ok well i got the frame side of the tracbar mount done today... currently have 14.5 inches of travel limited by the floor and steering... im shooting for 18...
well got some more stuff done... ordered gears (5.13) and axle rebuild kits along with mini spool for the rear fuel cell gauges 2 line locks some other misc stuff.. should be here in the next day or 2... also decided to go with the 18" travel coilovers next winter i might go hydro... they will even fit under the hood anyone know how to measure corner weight/figure out what spring rate you need for coilovers?
cut a foot off the rear there is some extra on the front but most of that will be going away i hope.. hopefully will be pickin up a 2000 explorer motor thursday for 550 has all the wiring and accessories and what nots.. very excited... also got the fuel cell today along with the gauges and line locks... gears and rebuild kits should be here soon
well this is my take on this very interesting project.
the rearward move of the engine is a good idea... even a small block weighs something, and when you move it forward of center and if you go three dimensional... above the center of gravity you get what's called leverage, and you are trying to get as much weight centered as possible so you don't roll! this thing will eventually stand on end so keep it up.
on the frame modifications... I personally would have boxed in the frame where the engine is mounting up and those new extenstions would be the same size as the old frame in order to keep it strong...
the dog house idea... you should see if you can get an econoline van dog house to fit...
on radiator placement... I think it should be behind the cab... again, this if so more weigh is centered and to protect it from those unforseen rocks that sprout up while you're on the trail
and for those who are looking for a good boot to use while welding and don't want shoelaces burning off... use these.
Body just came off the frame for that reason. Now that the drivetrain and suspension is mocked up, he can box the frame and add crossmembers. Probably get a different frame down the road, trying to make it to the 10yr anny in July.
ok well alot has happened since i posted last so quick run down
frame is boxed and painted
motor is rebuilt painted
drivetrain is completly assembled and back in truck
cab is back on
coilovers are on there way from sway away
decided to go air locker in front with vair constant duty air system
im sure there is more but o well
and now some pics
ok little update... not going to the TRS anniversery so im just going to go ahead and link the rear and put the bed back on(maybe if it fits) and do some custom bead locks..
