Moving the motor back will give you a better weight bias and make it easier to fit a fan in between the motor and radiator.
The down side is access to work on the motor. Maybe a removeable doghouse?
Why did you decide against the 351?

There was some confusion as to the 351. Some of us thought it was a 351W, never looked at it. It was a 351M and the NP435 has a smallblock bellhousing on it. And having a 302 laying around made the choice easier.

what he said^^^^ lol i agree on the removable dog house... just more work to add to the list lol

got a little more work done today... got the tires mounted the other day and got them to my house...

here is the new body mount that will also connect to the rock sliders and the role cage (yes it will get beefed up later) almost to the point where we can start cutting the firewall and what not to fit the motor....

also got the np205 put in thinking the lower links are going to go on the outside of the frame rail to get the flat bottom...

nah ill make an access hole in the fire wall like they did in the sunbeam tigers...

Any particular reason your going to alllllllll that extra work to fit a 302? A carbed one at that,(that fine, I got nothing against carbs) carbs aren't as big as my EFI upper intake and it is touching the firewall.

So you can fit axle better? Fit an mechanical fan? Moving the engine by a handfull of inches will gain you abit on the weight bias, but, I doubt you could even notice when wheeling. (IMO) Do you have one key reason or a collection of many?

collection of many... i dont really remember whats sparked it in the first place but its in full swing now lol

little update... got all the suspension joints for the front today... also got the t-case in place... decided that the lower links are going on the outside of the frame rails... might be getting a frame bench from my dads work to put it on just because... lol thats about it for now

ran into a little snag with the stock steering box.. i think I'm switching to a jeep box so i can put it in front of the axle and not directly over it

Crossmember is steel, just looks shiny.

Guys this thing is more bad ass in person, those link arms are huge!
