The Truth about Splash Ranger Coil Springs

I was searching for a long time about if front coil springs out of a splash Ranger where actually a inch lower. It was a lot of yes they are and a lot of no there not back and forth threads. It seemed like no one actually could prove it. Well this is why im posting this.

The question: can you take coil springs from a 2wd splash ranger and lower your 2wd ranger?

The answer : YES, the spring is 1 inch lower and will lower your truck 1 inch!

The black spring is my original springs from the factory from a 97 Ranger xlt
the primer one is from a splash ranger

so here is the proof ( these springs where not cut or compressed!)

This is my 97 ranger with 2001 Bullitt Mustang wheels, Rear shackle Flip, and splash ranger springs. I believe it is a 1/2 drop.
I use my truck to haul around loads of yard waste and landscaping materials, so this is why i didn't go lower...i use the truck.

Where did you find anything saying that Ranger Splash springs did not lower? Never seen anything like that. I thought it was almost common knowledge that you would get a drop from them, though how much depends on the amount your stock springs have sagged.

Sorry but a pic of the two springs side by side proves nothing. Due to varying spring rates, the taller spring could be shorter when installed. A stiffer spring could easily be taller when installed than a softer one that is taller when not installed.

but I want my 2wd to go up about an inch in the front.

Then you need to be looking in the two wheel drive suspension forums. The lowering forums are not the place for that. Besides if you use the search function I'm almost willing to bet that that same issue had been addressed at least a hundred times.

Does anyone know if these splash springs will work on 1st gen 2wd regular cab trucks? I've been pondering ideas of how to lower my truck about an inch in the front. If anyone has any knowledge of whether they work or not would be awesome! I can Imagine that they would fit with little hassle as long as i get 2wd splash coil springs but what do I know lol
 
Yea it's pretty well known that the splash trucks were 1" lower front and rear than the regular ranger. They should work on the first gens and still be able to realign it, they will work with second gen beams and be able to be realigned for sure. As for finding them, search forums or go to a junk yard. I don't think Ford sells them anymore. There is also the Belltech 2" drop coils available and Chassis Tech makes a couple different sizes although I have never had any experience with those.
 
I still have my stock 4x4 splash springs. I dont know what they're worth though.

What do you think i should do to drop my truck down an inch or two in the front, should i go with the splash springs or get 2" lowering springs? I want the whole truck to be under the fenders :headbang: lol! Here is a pic of how it currently sits:

So if i go lower in the rear will i need to notch the frame? I installed the DJM 3/4 kit but the rear went about 4 and a half inches so i want the truck to sit even all around. Thanks for your time!
 
so are 4 cylinder and v6 splash spring rates different??????

They are the same.

Im not so sure the 4x4 splash springs are the same as 2wd splash springs lol

You're right, not all Splash Srings are the same, the ones we want can be identified by the code in the door.

The code for the performance oriented (and lowering) Slash Spring is KK

The KK spring for the 4-cyl and 6-cyl are the same. We get about a 3/4 inch drop in the 4-cyl and about 1-inch in the 6-cyl.
