The super camper special has a longer wheel base than the regular long bed. The spare tire is behind that panel in the side of the box.

Rebuilt 390 with an Edelbrock Streetmaster intake and carb, hooker headers, and dual exhaust with flowmasters. Rebuilt C6. Dana 70 rear with 4.10 gears.

All for the bargain price of $950. It only needs a few small things, mainly header gaskets. It had a vacuum leak and was running bad when I bought it. I replaced some vacuum caps and it purs now...

:D

That truck looks clean for its age and nice bargain

NICE...

The only thing that truck really needs is a 460:)

Want one?

so , and i know this is wrong to say on a ford site , but this is kinda like the longhorn trucks chevy had in the early 70's ?

Nah, it's too nice for that. Unbelievable really.

The wheelbase, I've never seen that before. And the radiator looks like it's out of a medium duty truck. Pretty cool find. And cheap.

That wheel base is kinda strange. They only made them from 73-79 in a F350 Camper special. All of the trucks were 2wd. Ive had a couple, the bed is the same length as a normal 8ft but the wheel base is just longer. The normal 8ft ford truck is 133" WB and the super camper is 140". That rad is a factory option. It is called the "heavy duty cooling package" it is a 4 core and also taller than the standard rad. The rad alone holds close to 5 gal of anifreeze. Thats the same rad I got in my 79 F250 with a 460.

Wow!

I never seen that before.

Cool I have never even heard of that package before.

The stretched wheelbase looks a lot like what Ford did with the newer F-150's, my brother's '97 std cab longbox looks somewhat like that, but there is still room for the spare behind the rear axle. I think their main reason on the F-150's was so they could use the same frame for std cab lontbox and extended cab shortbox trucks though, but it would have had to have helped with payload like the "Super Camper Special" trucks.

It sucks to park. lol. If it didn't have power steering I don't think I would have bought it...
