the skinny on the rangers death

That is definetly the Ford raptor, fords very soon to be production pickup, and is featured in the 2 most recent Petersons 4Wheel&Offroad Magazine. It was also a competitor in some sort Of baja race, I can't remember.

that pic is photo shopped tho, any one ever gets that much air and look and looks that cool and calm behind the wheel

as I said, the badge was clear as day "ranger" I even asked another guy if I was seeing things.

he said it was "ranger" as well.

I'm sure that if it's "raptor" it's a proto-type name... but since they do plan on replacing the ranger here soon, I'd see this as a good option to do it with.

I'd buy one.

the ford jeep thing has been skulking around late nights in detroit vicinity and arizona for years.

but they have had alot of shit ready and nothing happening about it either the last 5 years. wtf is the deal with these clowns at the top?

is it me or do 90% of the people on this site write incomplete sentences that leave you wondering what they are talking about?

bobby, what ford jeep thing are you talking about... and how many years... and what clowns are you referring to?

Let me see if I follow this... the current Ranger ends in 2011 and after that we're getting a new Ranger platform which will probably be a tad smaller, and the 2010 F100/Bronco idea is scrapped?

for a few years i was seeing some escape based truck thing, i was figuring the ranger was gonna end up front drive like the honda and the 100 was gonna be online as a real truck... and during this period we also seen ifs 4x4 and rear steer ford 1 tons and what i actually thought was a jeep. i dont know anyone personally placed in that product area and was unaware of any development, i was close to it one day and noticed some the the platform test hardware under the drivers side and knew it was some sort of ford. this was starting in 02 or so i guess.

theres lots of neat platform whores around there, v10 vic and stangs along with diesels ect.

upper management and product management at ford is a joke...the 500 for instance....killing the taurus name for that:shok: then heres the little v8 diesel had been ready/was ready for a quick launch in 05 at least limited release for real market testing and its marred in the new emmissions cost death now. to me that was a mistake to cut it off.......but in hindsight i guess its for the best.

motortrend quoted ford as saying the reason the f-100 died was because the die-hard ford fans wanted 7500lbs of towing from the 6000 they offered, which would have constituted a redesign... they chose not to, and as a side bar mentioned that the average trailer and what-nots the American population tows is 5000lbs... go figure right!

and that copper toned truck that you see flying through the air was badged as the ranger when I saw it, so I don't know that the OP of that pic had that down or not.

This IS a picture of the Ford RAPTOR. supposed to be in the final stages of testing, production SOON!!! read the last 3 months of petersons. the truck is BIGGER than an f 150, has a 5.4 and is supposed to recieve I think a 6.1 or 6.2 v8 later on in production. It also competed in the BAJA 1000 and ford intending only to finish took 3rd place in their class. Lets see a chevy do that... Serious though, theres tonnes of info on this, Its very real and may soon affect YOU. I know when that thing hits the lot Im Using my test drive ability. (haha)

Also the June Issue has a small section:
"Fresh from a third in class finish at the Baja 1000, Fords SVT Raptor R will continue it's high intensity R&D by competing in all five points races int the 09. Best in the desert race series. The truck will be driven by veteran racers and former rough riders Rob MacCachren and Steve Olliges. the Raptor R, of course, is a modified version of Ford's prodction F-150 SVT raptor, a high performance off-roader that will go on sale this summer. Initially powered by a 320 hp 5.4L V-8, the Raptor will be available early next year with a 6.2L V-8 that has power targets of 400 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. Says Ford. "This is a great opportunity for everyone involved in the Raptor program to get more real time data on how the truck perfrms in the most extreme conditions." said Cliff Irey, manager of truck motorsports for Ford racing Technology. "We need to push the truck harder than we'd ever expect our customers would to ensure that the production Raptor is the Ultimate factory available high speed off-road truck."

I think your not the only one who feels this way...

I read Bobby's post and i knew what he was talking about.

send the ford designers a picture of this & tell em it's the latest concept of chevy's new light duty p/u

Streetrod001.jpg

then tell em that is what happens when the customer's input is ignored

according to this, the raptor is a f-150.... I can't for the life of me wonder why it said ranger... possibly 'cause I wanted it to be so badly....

anyways, check this out.
