the rustbucket rat

the wrenches I couldnt get the holes drilled, so I made some skulls out of aluminum sheeting

added more plates...

also moved the front plate down and put expanded metal in the holes in the bumpers

modified the vent above the radio... the left half of it that is just for looks..... will post pics tomorrow

You need to heat those wrenches red then let them cool slowly. This will soften the metal and let you drill holes in it.

The bedliner floor looks great-how loud is it? I've been thinking of ripping out my carpet but I don't want to make the truck annoyingly loud.

its just paint on the floor.... it is louder without the rubber floor mat in there..I am running a turbo muffler so its not too bad..... a glasspack would be annoying. but I did have a loose heatshield on the cat, fixed it today....... I made some skulls instead of using the wrenches

Great! Keep it up, I like 'em ratty!

The trick is to FIND stuff and make it work. Only spend money where you have to, like issues of safety, tires, suspension and steering, and maintenance. Remember rat rods are very stripped down and minimalist. Keep it simple and take off what you don't need. Have fun and keep it up!

I started with a stripped down ranger....yeah I took off some plastic guards under the hood that are not really needed..took the rubber floor mat out.. I have been taking stuff off thats not needed throughout the build...... made some changes because someone attempted to break into it...working on an anti theft as well

well, now you know you have a good truck when someone tries to steal it.

I hope you caught the person that was breaking in to it and whopped him up good.

no, I noticed the next day there were scratches and pry marks on the slider window.....the parking at my parents place is stupid...if you cant find a spot in the complex, you have to park a block away.... one of my dads caregivers car was broken into during the day time...that part of town used to be somewhat decent, till mexicans, blacks and russians moved from the hood to that part of town..... every time I hear about rigs getting jacked in my area, its in SE portland or gresham....when I lived in that part of town I had 2 cars stolen, an 80 toyota celica and a 73 datsun pickup...... the datsun was never recovered and the celica was found 3 weeks later about 2 miles away missing a few parts (less than $20 to replace)..... my other ranger got broke into twice, tires slashed, spray painted with a spot of pink:annoyed:...my 90 bronco the windshield got busted.... so bad you couldnt see out of that half of the windshield...drivers side of course.... another truck someone broke out a side window for no reason... my k5 blazer got keyed and a buick century I had before my ranger was keyed and the tires were slashed.... thats why I am not into having nice shiny rigs anymore...both my rigs are ratty....rattle cans and wrecking yards are the way I roll now

That sucks about your truck getting broken into... I am glad I live where I do, I could leave it unlocked with the keys in the ignition and nothing would happen...

where I live now is like that...... I have left doors unlocked, windows down and nothing happened.... the only thing that happened here is someone backed into the buick and dented in the drivers door and drove off

It drives me nuts, but the best anti-theft is to leave your truck empty & unlocked.

You can break into a Ranger with literally no tools. Locking it is asking for a window to get broken.
