the rustbucket rat

went to the junkyard and picked up a spare tire, window cranks from an 83 ranger..... was really looking for some from a 73-79 f series truck, but wasnt able to find any... a LF headlight headlight bezel and turn signal assembly.... could only find chrome ones so I will sand the chrome off and paint it.... will post pics tomorrow

went to the junk yard yesterday and picked up a few things.....
a fullsize spare tire... got lucky it was just laying in the back of a ranger

sorry I put it in place before I left the junkyard..... also got a lf light bezel.... wasnt able to find a black one so I got a chrome one , sanded down the chrome real good and painted it

also picked up some window cranks from an 83 ranger... was looking for some 73-79 f150 ones but didnt find any

found these today while shopping with the wife

and the shift knob came apart.... so I swapped it out with the transfer case shifter on my k5 rat wheeler

Nice progress so far! I'm really liking the red rims.

took the stupid duralast plaque off that was stuck on the toolbox with double sided tape and replaced it with this fairlane emblem

went to the junkyard today and scored a few items.....

shift boot from an 85 ranger.... had to make the hole bigger in the top and had to reuse the ring that mounts the bottom of the boot from the old boot

also scored this from the same truck.... looks better than the factory headlight switch knob

also got a washer pump and harness pigtail.... might still need a switch but will see what happens

well it turns out the old pump was rusted into the tank... I broke the washer tank trying to get it out..... so it looks like my next search at the junkyard will be for a new tank... also found out that washer switch is indeed bad, so I need one of those too.... the ranger has been parked for a few weeks because the muffler finally let go....the tailpipe is now aimed at the bottom of the bed behind the rear wheel, so that is the next thing soon as I get some funds

got the muffler cut off today but didnt get to the auto parts store because I was waiting for a contractor to stop by....one good bump is all it would have took

the only parts stores near me are napa and carquest.... so today I made the 20 mile trek to the nearest Oreily auto parts and here is what I spent $46 on

came home and got it installed.....drove it to my local walmart and back... like the way it sounds..... has some attitude but doesnt sound ricer

the stock location for the mirrors wasnt working with the new mirrors..... so I moved them

its alot easier to see out of them now..... just gotta do something with the holes in the body where they were originally

get two of the big band-aid stickers and put over the holes.

lol.....actually what I did was I pulled the door panels off and removed the bracket for the old mirrors..... then I took a peice of sheet metal and attached it on the inside of the door by running self tapping screws through the door into the sheet metal... sanded and painted it and it doesnt look too bad.....at a later date I will get over to a freinds house and weld them in place.... little bit of body filler and paint and nobody will know there was holes there........sorry cant post a pic at the moment because my cell phone died

not much going on right now.... took some time off to work on my 4x4 project.... today I got back on the ranger, I took apart some of the interior to clean 23 years of dirt and crud out of the cracks and creavices.... taking out the seat tomorrow, already got the rusty bolts out, they came out easy after soaking a few hours in pb blaster

not may people will put love into a truck like this, good on you and keep it up!
