the rustbucket rat

so far , so good on the 2.3....yeah I have never been a fan of a spare under the truck.... when I took the original donut spare out it had about 6 inches of dirt caked on the back side... the wheel was solid rust and was flat.... the spare tire carrier rotted out right where the hinge part is.... the rest of it was ok, which I used the make this tire carrier

decided it looked better with the hubcaps , so I went to the junkyard and picked up a hubcap to replace the missing one and put them back on

not much going on with the rustbucket rat.... figured out the issue with the fuel gauge..... almost ran out of gas one day, after filling it up the gauge read full..... then it slowly went back down to empty....looks like the common float issue to me....also got the windshield washers working.... went to the junkyard and grabbed a new tank and the switch..... still no workie, so I just wired the pump through a toggle switch..... now it works... also put on a few utility lights I took off my k5 blazer to use as driving lights

right now the ranger is the only driver at my house.... the other rigs we have are either not running or have expired tags......money is really tight , so driving my 4x4 is out and the tags expired last week....build is gonna be more towards a practical daily driver..... here is how it looks at the moment

stock 90 window cranks are back in because one of the old school ones broke...I am done working on my k5 blazer for now so I am working on the ranger ....gonna see what else I want to do to it... will keep ya posted

:lame:the roads around my place suck!!!! lost another hubcap!!! I took them off and gonna leave it this way....

without the hubcaps......trying to figure out other stuff to do on the cheap other than maintenance

get yourself a few small long hair brush's and and some one shot paint and pin strip the fire out of it.

I discovered I do not have any sway bars on my truck....something else to add to the junkyard list

the big rubber floor mat was in bad shape, plus it was trapping water from the leaking windshield.... so I took it out and painted the floor

also put the old school window cranks back on after put a screw in the one the knob came off...found out I need to put a hinge pin kit on the drivers door....really both doors... drivers side needs it more of course

just might do that.... it has tape pinstriping down the sides of the truck in red and purple

the chrome on the outside of the dome light was looking worn so I sanded it down and painted it flat black

here is another idea I have been tossing around in my head..... finally found 2 wrenches that are a pretty close match

gonna drill some holes and use small nuts and bolts or self tapping screws.... might also paint them.... maybe red.... not sure yet
