Hey all,

I just got my Ranger about 2 months ago. I bought it for a steal from my boss. It is an 89 STX, manual trans 4x4. Im really liking sitting up high and driving a truck. Before this i had a 2001 Mustang that was show quality and strip ready. But i got tired of repairing it and everything cost a boat load for it!

i've been reading up alot on this little truck and i do a have a few unanswered questions.

I see there is a "high Rider" package? how do i know if mine is it? also, is my rear end a posi? aside of taking the cover off or jacking it up how would i tell?

High rider will have factory drop on the brackets. Quickest way is to look at your radius arm crossmember. If it's bolted right to the frame, you don't have that package, but if there is a little spacer block on each side, you have it. If the tag is still on your axle, look up the code in the Tech Library. If not, you could jack it up and turn the tires by hand. If you do have the factory posi, it probably doesn't do much anymore. Open ones are better anyways, you can pop a locker right in place of the spiders without changing anything else.

ya check your axle code, but if i'm not mistaken i'm pretty sure most of the stx's and or ext. cabs had a limited slip from the factory, atleast, all of them that i have messed with have, and that includes an stx, my supercab, my old 2wd supercab, my buddies 2wd supercab, and a few other's we've worked on for friends...
