The gun thread...

You might consider a 44 lever gun as well. Shoot 44Mag. or 44 Special. Plenty of them around now that cowboy action has taken off. Esy to reload for.

Thanks.....I'm adding your sugg. to my check-list...

My dad shoots a '94 Marlin .45LC in the cowboy action thing. He likes it, plus it uses the same shells as his pistols which keeps reloading simple. It is a good universal round.

I got a new gun a week ago for my birthday, a 1851 Confederate Colt Navy replica (aka a copy of a copy) It isn't historically correct being a .44 since the '51 was originally only made in .36 caliber. It is nice though since I can still use the same powder pellets, wads and balls from my '58 Remington. The brass is pretty too, the Confederates didn't have enough steel to make their weapons so they used steel where they had to and brass where strength wasn't as important. Obviously they are a weaker gun than a steel Colt, but it would still function fine as a black powder pistol.

Dad wants me to take them to a shoot, but I don't know if I am ready to perform in front of a live audiance just yet...

The Remington is the blued frame closed pistol on the left, the Colt is the open top brass framed pistol on the right. I also have a RH calvelry holster to go with the belt for hunting. The flap works great to keep the pistol (probably the Remington again) from getting banged up, but it is tougher to draw from, especially with the skimpier framed Colt. I am trying to find a belt to match my holsters but it is tough to find one without bullet loops in it.

If anyone else has an M1 carbine and needs some mags, here's a link to a sale on some newly manufactured mags that are the best you can buy at the moment. Very high quality, and fit and finish is amazing. Just as good as the GI mags. It beats the hell out of using the originals, which are now worth alot more than scrap value like they were a few years ago. They're on sale for 9.95 a piece. Cheaper than dirt has them for about $13. I bought 10 from aimsurplus, and it came to like 108 with shipping. Not bad at all, and it saves my original rare clip (original manufacturer matched to the gun) so I can preserve it. These come in paper wrap, and are imported, but you really can't beat them.

Here's the pic from their website...

And here they are with my M1...

7 in wrap, and 3 on gun, original in oiled baggy. My other ww2 wrapped original is with the rest of my limitless collection.

Just though I'd let any carbine owners in on a pretty good deal...:icon_thumby:

It's a mil-spec 1911A1 by Springfield Armory. I absolutely love these guns.

Yeah, I kinda broke the status quo by getting a new gun, not a gunuine military one. That's soon to come though, I still have an original WW1 1911 on the agenda.

This is the only picture that I have of my Smith & Wesson 9mm. I just got it for my 24th birthday. Thats my soon to be wife holding it (we get married in 3 days), Sorry for the bad photo, it was on my cell phone.

If for any reason this might offend someone just PM me and I'll be sure to move this over to the Boob thread going on right now.
