The Green Machine Build

Started thinking about another project the other day, electric side steps. I don't really like the tube style running board steps and I dont want the "hoop" style hanging down. I'm thinking an electric window motor to actuate them. I'm also thinking about making them like 8-12 inches wide, not sure yet. I started with a scissor style thing to have them down when needed but up out of the way of anything when the doors are closed. Here's a mechano prototype:View attachment 13769View attachment 13770

Picked up my new rad last week, not sure when that will get installed. Most likely when the front axle is torn apart in a month or so. Hopefully ordering all new ball joints, wheel bearings, axle seals, all u-joints from t-case forward and a double cardan rebuild kit in a week or two. I think I'm going to do the c-clip eliminator to the passenger side shaft while I have the pumpkin off the beam. I'm also going to do my 2" washer lift and camber bushings on the front and bump the belltechs to their highest setting at the same time to make room for 33's this summer.

I was also thinking of either welding or fozzy locking my front diff while its out too. Anyone with expierence with either feel free to give some feedback. I like the idea of being able to turn a bit before the shafts lock with the fozzy, but I have also read about people grenading diffs from the force of the lock up.

Organized the parts I had laying around into my body lift box earlier today and ordered the spring clip eliminator spring from our local echo dealer. Grad total of 3.75$ plus tax! Also ordered some cheapy led h3 bulbs for my fogs to match color temp of the light bar, this summer I'll order projector headlights with black reflectors/ clear corners/ 6000k hids and most likely black out my billet grille. Not much progress until I'm done of college in 2 weeks and back making bank! Also gotta save up to drive this little monster to Fairview Alberta in late august!

so none of my pictures are showing up anymore :annoyed: ill try to fix that for anyone who's following. What a PITA..

Anyway, ordered all the front suspension parts yesterday, just over 300 bucks canadian. The place i ordered from couldn't get the moog 617 (double cardan rebuild parts) so they sent me to another spot that deals with moog more than them, store number 2 wanted 75$ for the stupid thing! Came home and ordered it from rockauto, 45$ shipped. Should be tearing into it next week.

Side note: anyone know why my attachments aren't showing up?

I can see the images

Parts are in! I might start with the small stuff (u-joints, axle seals, weld spiders) I should be ok driving around a little without the pumkin on the beam hopefully.

Also, I have to try and find "bolt" style frost plugs now... longs story short, im a dumbass and bashed out the wrong one (twice) putting in my block heater and the new ones were a b*tch to get in and they both leak.. yay! The rad install went pretty smoothly on the bright side, except the lower tranny cooler line leaks a bit now so I have to snug that up some more.

Started tearing out the d35 on monday doing a few hours every night this week. Most of it is going pretty smoothly, although my coil retainer on the driver side is pretty much non existent and the threads for the stud are pretty well screwed. Im also stuck on the driver side beam pivot bolt right now. Going out the try to get it to move today, dad and i got the nut off of it last night. Ill try to get pics up tonight

I've been sick all week so dad helped out a bit by chopping up the stud on the driver side and the pinch bolts for the ball joints. I got the driver side beam dropped today. I just had to undo the tie rod from the passenger side knuckle, then swing it out of the way, stuck the breaker bar on the bolt and jumped on it lol worked like a charm. Think I might drop the passenger beam too and blast and paint while I've got it all apart
