The Great American Classic

I understand there are sections, why I asked because I don't really grasp witch one to use .
It depends on what you're asking. Engine questions would go in the appropriate 4 cylinder section. Other questions would go in the appropriate brake, transmission, etc section according to the subject.

My point is/was : I don't know which section to post my question in......

It sounds from your previous post like it's an engine question? If so, post it in the 4 cylinder engine forum. If it fits better elsewhere, one of the moderators can always move it for you.

This piece required way more geometry then I was prepared for. Giant PITA, and wasted more metal then I wanted to. I wanted it to wrap around into the fender well as one piece, but buggered up that too many times and decided to make that part separately.

I wish I had your skills and your patience

Thanx Fastpakr ! .

I found the 4 banger engine forum then discovered I can filter it for 2.5 Liter only, I'll spend some time searching before asking .

Brother came over yesterday and helped install the passenger side header while got everything else installed. Got the fluids mostly full.

Need to prime the oil pump and make sure I’ve got oil pressure.
Once we’re good there I’ll try and start it.

One I get it up and going I’ll have to take care of some odds and ends, but otherwise getting close.

Also the interior is completely full of mold, but that’s an issue for another day.

Couldn’t get the pump to suck oil just cranking it, even with 15qts of oil. Turns out the oil pump is crazy easy to pull on this thing, literally nothing in the way. So I pulled the pump and packed it with assembly grease.

Pumped right up.

fitted a bunch of odds and ends up on the thing. I just need to hook the exhaust back to the headers, and drain the extra oil out. Dump some gas in it and see what happens.

I have a bunch of trim to install, and the brakes need bleeding. I’ll deal with that stuff once I know it runs.

We'll wait.......

I can’t figure out how to directly upload a video to the site, but I got running this afternoon.

Had missed the sensor for the tone ring on the crank shaft, but other then that it started right up.

Even drove it up and down the street.

Have a few odds and ends before I break it in and get it inspected, but the hard work is done.

I bleed the brakes, but their still a little soft.

I need to do a better job with the alignment on the front wheels.

I need to reinstall some trim and the hood.

I think that’s about it before I start driving it.

I still have all new bushing and stuff for the rear.

Plus it could really use new brakes all the way around.

I’ll work on that once I drive it around a little bit.

Got the thing driving straight, so that’s sweet. I also installed the boot for the shifter, a lot quieter in the cab now.

I’m wait for some new clips to install the new wiper cowl. Then I can put all that, the hood, and wiper arms.

I think the front brakes are dragging, so I may need to do them sooner then I wanted to.

Maybe next weekend I’ll give it a bit of a shakedown drive to start breaking in the engine and check for any CEL.

Drove it to go buy beer and fill it with gas yesterday.

The front brakes are definitely dragging, they were smoking after the three miles to the beer store. Then when I went to leave the beer store, they didn’t work at all.

I figured I would just use the parking brake to limo home, but then they started working again once I got moving.

I didn’t really do anything with the brakes, they worked ok before, just a bit soft.

I have some new pads for them, so I think I’m going to get a new set of rotors and hoses too. I’m torn between rebuilding the calipers and replacing them.

Sounds like stuck caliper sliders.
