oh and my oil leak isnt oil... its my front diffy fluid. maybe its time for a 44????? who knows hahaha but i think i may have water in my oil still but not sure. need to get a starter first so i can atleast go wash it and do some real work on her

So that's you..I've seen that on Facebook, lol.

Not bad so far...Not bad at all. In all honestly though, I think it looks better with a stock grill.

hahahahahaha yep im that guy...

but yeah im almost regret the grill idea... i think it would be better if i added two more lights or a mesh or expanded steel over it. im currently in the process of building what going to hopefully be a badass tube/sheet metal bumper so i might get a new grill and recess the lights into the bumper... idk yet though

i like the grille and im jelous of your tire score.... weld the ass end up in that thing and itll go everywhere. (research fozzy lockers theyre usually used in samurais at least thats where i know it from. that way you can have ypur spool and if you dont like it it doesnt wreck the carrier. that way you can always go to an aftermarket locker or stock spider gears)

thanks man! yeah they were a deal! and i would do something like that but i really want a selectable locker for daily driving and colorado winters haha but theyre so damn expensive!!

Hey, just stumbled on this build. Cool, you're almost the same age as me. Real nice truck, and you scored on those tires! What kind of antennas do you use for the CB? I've used a FireStik antenna, works like a charm, cheap, and made in the USA.

Staying tuned, looks tight!

Roof rack with lights maybe? This would make a sweet Baja truck

hey thanks man! yeah my brother runs firesticks and they're really good. these are radio shack brand haha got um on ebay for 15 bucks for the both of them mounts and coax because they were refurbished hahahaha they're originally 75 :P they work just as good as the firesticks on my bros 150 with my cobra mini. and yeah i wanted a crawler, then a prerunner, and now im leaning towards a mud truck.... sooooo its gunna be a fine mixture of them all!! by the end it will have front and rear full widths, hopefully a 4bta cummins, be up on about 36's with long travel suspension haha i got a lot of work left!!! and even more $$$$$!!!!

Wouldn't be right to have a diesel...for some odd reason.

I'd love a Ranger, but I don't want to rebuild an engine, I want a new out the box engine and tranny, so it's too pricey. I found a kit for a Vortec conversion, if I get a Ranger, I'm going to drop in a 2500 Chevy 8.1 Vortec I have and watch it fly!

hahahahaha sounds cool man but im just saying a vortec would be my last choice... EVER. id rather drop a tdi or something gay like that in it first hahahahahaha no offense here i just cant stand newer chevy's especially vortecs.

There's nothing wrong with a Vortec. I've pushed them past 200,000 miles, offroaded with them, gone over 100mph for street "racing," and used them to tow much more than the max weight- no complaints. I've never tuned up the engine, changed spark plugs, anything. Still in perfect shape after meticulous inspection.

Minor Update:

so over the weekend i did my exhaust. the stock headers went straight into a cat that wen to 3"for about 6 inches and then to another cat then to like 2.25" to muffler and back. i wanted to run 3" as i had lots of pieces of it lying around from a few 1st gen cummins. so i pieced one up and ran it over all of my cross members and inside the frame rail and then down and out to a 4" tip just before the passenger rear tire. also since there was water in my cab my carpet started to stink so i ripped that shit out and im gunna rubber line it about a half inch thick. also my whole hook mount idea didnt exactly work... they would have worked fine but i was just REALLY stuck hahahahaha. the hooks held up to the full force of a 12,000 lb winch but the winch wouldnt pull me out so my friend got in his p- pumped 24v fummins thats cranking over 900 horse and hammared it while i was hooked to the winch and just barely got me out before it ripped my bumoer through the frame hahahahaha so im starting to build a bumper.

bumperplanFINAL12-9-2012_zps4f7630b8.png

yes i know it looks like a sumbraro hahahhaha suck it!! :thefinger: the main piece is two pieces of 3" angle iron at a 6" center arch welded together to make a C channel. at the center it will stick out of the truck 8" and 2" at the corners with a diamond plate walkway on the top. the tubing will be 2" O.D. tubing with about 1/16" walls?? not sure yet. but im going to tap an air chuck into the tubing and drill holes where all the pieces will connect and use it as an air tank hahahahaha it oughta give me enough to do like one tire. i also got a 750W power inverter (im going to install tomorrow) ill run a compressor off of so i can refill it on the trails. ill recess lights into the bumper and do a receiver and D-Rings. ill post pics of the exhaust, interior, power inverter and the start of my bumper tomorrow.

this is a build thread not an argument thread... there is nothing wrong with your opinion nor mine, we've both had different experiences with vortecs and obviously yours was much better than mine. you wont change my mind, i wont change yours so no since in arguing about it. to every man his own. :icon_thumby:

Just posting my $0.02 man. I'm just not a fan of Cummins or Dodge >:o

It truly needs a heavy duty bumper or tube bumper, but make sure that the bumper isn't going to rip off.

Are you going to raise the front higher than the back? Baja style?

Sweet Ironbull, pricey but really good.

A 8100 or a Triton V10 are decent engines too, btw...
8100 is a Vortec, but it's basically a somewhat tweaked Big Block.
