Thanks buddy!! I think so too.
Bronco II V8 swap:
I have the complete engine computer and harness out of the 91 F150 I pulled the 5.0L from, I have the f150 motor mounts, fuel lines, pumps, steering column, gage cluster, fuse block and all that good stuff. I'm going fuel injected no question about it. I have already cut the ttb cross member out of the Bronco when I swapped in the fw d44/9". I have plans on replacing the A/C heater box with a non A/C heater box or modify mine to suit. I also already have the 3" BL in there to aid in fitment of larger engine and trans bell housing.
I picked up a c4 from a 76 Early Bronco with a 302, and picked up a c4 from a Mustang II for it's V6 bell housing that never got used. I had planned on swapping in the auto while the v6 was running strong, but it never happened as I had trouble finding the c5 out put shaft and tail housing needed for the swap and I wasn't going to spend 460 on the aftermarket out put and adapter. I still don't have the c5 out put shaft and tail housing in my possession yet either otherwise she would be automatic already. So that will need to be located as the build ensues.
If I can't find the c5 parts I need for this swap, I may have to try and find a c6/np205 combo to use instead, not my first choice but I'll do what I have to do to get this project back together when that time comes.
It's too bad too, because I have the v8 and v6 c4's with bell housings and torque converters and the e1354 and m1350, I just need to c5 output and tail housing to complete this set-up. I was also considering doing a doubler.
See the c4/1350 combo is about 9" or so shorter than the fm145/1350 combo I have in there now, or so my research online says anyways. I haven't had a c5/1350 in my possession to physically measure it myself. I figured if I could find a source who can make me a spud shaft to join the 1350 range box to the 1354 tcase and make it long enough so I can make the adapter 9" or so. Then I wouldn't have to do any drive shaft mods and would get a lower low range or roughly 5:1 double low outta the deal.
Once the engine is swapped in with the auto behind it and the tcase I can build a set of dual 2.5" exhaust under there. From what I have read I will need to move the trans cross member as well to line it all up, then drill new holes in the frame for it too.
I already have the f150 fuel pump installed in the bII tank as my pump died last summer. The fuel lines are interchangeable between the 4.0 and 5.0 from what I have read. I'll need to drill 2 new engine mount holes on what's left of the ttb cross member to bolt the engine down. I still need to figure out which flex plate I'll need to run so it fits in the Early Bronco 302 bell housing. The f150 I pulled the engine from was a manual trans truck so no computer problems should be present with the non electric auto trans.
If I find a 351 along the way before the swap begins I'll definitely go that route. The 5.0L I have needs to be resealed anyways, so while it's opened up I might just re-ring it, hone it and toss some new bearings in too, unless i find a better 351.
Some people have said I need the mustang 5.0L intake and convertible motor mounts and mustang II exhaust mans and Maverick rad and yadda yadda yadda. With the ttb cross member gone, heater box modded or removed, body lift and such, if I have to cut the hood for the intake to fit, so be it, I always wanted a hood scoop, lol. I have plans on headers too, shorties or block hugger I heard can work, as well as stock Explorer v8 exhaust mans too. Tho v8 explorers are very rare around here.
Im getting pretty excited about finally have some power in the Bronco and an auto to boot!! She'll finally have enough poop to party with!!!
