does any one know the cubic inch displacement for the 5.0 that just came out...also will it mate up to a small block trans :)....probably not on the trans...and ibet you can not get a carb for it

I think I read that it is a 302". It's modular though, so it will probably fit a Triton bolt pattern, but I wouldn't count on it fitting a small block.

And no, I bet the chances of ever finding a carb for one to be slim to just on the other side of none.

Them are nice motor, not even out on the streets yet but everyone wants aftermarket parts for them. Give them time and I bet everything you would want will be available. Problem with that motor is no down low torque. Motor Trend just did a dyno test and got 435 rwhp, little bit over the rated 412 (crank).

Someone like Sullivan will come out with a carby intake, it will probably cost $800+ though. The Modular platform is very very expensive to build. I think it works out to 3:1 dollar wise to the Windsor engines.

It's not a modular engine. They just used some of the same tools to make it that they have been using on the modular engines. It's a completely new engine.

Do you have anything on the torque curve? I was thinking it was pretty flat...

My brother has one on the way. :D

There is a whole lot that is really interchangable between the mod motors anyway. Modular means the tooling for the engines is modular... not engine family itself.

Dropping a 2v mod into a RBV would be pretty cool, I wouldn't try a 3v let alone this new 5.0 though...

i'd be willing to bet that once the engine actually hits the market there will be 1 or 2 companies that make a carbed set up for it. you can get a carb set up for the gm ls series motors so why not the new coyote?

I'm pretty sure somebody makes a varb setup for the new Mopar Hemi's as well.

i'll give it about 6 mos. afer the engine comes out that we'll see somebody build a 1,000 hp street version that runs on pump gas (89 octane or better)

What IS the fascination with backward technology (carbs) for some people?

PERSONALLY im not biased either way. But in my opinion its just preference and maybe it has to do with the fact that with the carb, you don't have to go pay out the wazoo to get your vehicle retuned after every significant mod you do to the engine?? Makes sense to me...

And as far as the new 5.0 goes... they look to be an awesome motor. I've got the 5.0 Mustang issue that goes into great detail about the motor. Hopefully they'll be as good as they are sounding

I'm pretty sure it is a modular.

Triton = Modular, but Modular doesn't mean Triton.

Modular just means that the engine clearances and such aren't all set and at their final position until the whole thing is together, heads, oil pan, intake, etc.

The 5.0 L (4951 cc, 302 cid)[9] "Coyote" V8 is the latest evolution of the Modular engine.

There you be. Modular.

It's a Modular motor and going to have a lot of potential.

Modular Motor

Short for "modular motor". A "modular" motor is one that shares many parts with other motors/engines of differing displacement and cylinders.

For example, Ford's 2.5L and 3.0L Duratec V6 engines are also "modular motors" (although the term "mod motor" is usually only used for the V8 engines) and share parts with the 4.6 and 5.4L V8 engines.
