Bout time I broke down and did my bumper, here's a few pics just from today, obviously i cut the tubing long so that way I can't **** my angles up :thefinger: Just have the 2 outside corners left to bend, notching the top to continue the grille, and coping the bottoms. More pics will be on the way :icon_welder:

started with 8''x4''x1/4'' wall HSS

Kind of taking shape:

This is where I left it with the tops flushed off, as my brain was starting to hurt lol.

I am incorporating a receiver tube and also going to be bending a stinger out of 2'' standard wall pipe. :icon_thumby:

Take a look at my bumper build thread, It may give you a few ideas. Ours look identical.

I have been watching your bumper for a few weeks now, and indeed I used your designed as a template, as the cut out portion on your bumper will follow the lines of my grille, I am going to come farther toward my wheels with my tubing and cope the corners, kind of at a stand still however as i'm going to attempt the bend at outside of the fender flare so that way i'll still have just a bit off my truck width wise, I'm nit pick when it comes to this stuff lol, and I just recieved my journeyman welding ticket here in alberta so this may be a kick off to fabrication of bumpers of all kinds.

I have a sketch I made in paint of my rear bumper.

Looks good bud. Definitely subscribed.

Oh and once its all welded, be ready to grind for about 3 hours lol.

Nice. Looks oddly familiar.....

More progress pics from today, finished off getting the perimeter done, now it's just a matter of coping it out nice and welding it up basically. Still lots of work to go but, I wanted to have the shape solid before i start hacking into it.

Corners, Kept the radius on the tube for that factory bent look

How it sits now at the end of the day. May need to come out just a bit back to 90, might've took a bit too much out..meh

As a welder, I've learned to do as little grinding as possible, that's why i went with a bent design as i'm going to keep very minimal welding on the front faces, most of it i'm going to flap smooth with a sanding pad. That is the welds for the reciever tube and the stinger, and coped portions in the tube.

i cant see the pics cause i'm at work but i look forward to seeing them when i get home

im about to embark on creating my own custom front bumper as well

My only question is "is that all the wider the bumper's going to be?

looks good, 1/4" wall should do the trick lol

+1 on minimal grinding. Grinding weakens the weld :icon_welder:

saw this on RF, thats gonna be one gnarley bumper.

haha no, i cut my tube long so that i could have extra for the bends, it should stick out just past the fender flares maybe 1/2'' I haven't done much too it since Sunday so I still need to tweak the corners, weld the bends solid and then I can start coping my tube out, i'm going to see about using the tube radius for the bottoms. It's going to take time as i'm forced to work around my work schedule, I go back to work wednesday, work straight through till the next wednesday and then I get 6 days off so it's more or a less a days off kind of project however I am going to pick a few brains tomorrow when I get back to work lol. Come up with some ideas. I'm trying to see if I can get my shackle lugs, custom torch cut out of 3/4'' steel on a torch table at my work. They would look sharp.

I mean depth...It's only going to stick out from the front of the truck 2 inches? Or what are you going to do about that?

Where it sits here, is pretty close, I do plan on moving it up some when i trim out the top portion, I Know i'm going to have frame rails showing but I want it about 1/2'' off the the bottom of the headlight valence. it's closer to 1-3/4'' in this pic
