The Aluminium Falcon

I would rather have black trim with non metallic green or tan.

But Ford can only really do various shades of gray and can't paint bumpers that won't rust.
Chrome is almost nostalgic these days.

Can be kinda overdone too, I really don't care for the newer ones with two 6" chrome bars across the grille.

Agreed. Too much can look gaudy. everything in moderation, even black painted parts.

Yeah... I think my ‘20 F-150 has a little too much chrome.

(If you look closely, it has chrome lug nuts.)

my truck has a little chrome on it, too

It appears to have too much Texas.... and way too much Titan.

ha ha ha. nissan made special texas editions to celebrate the years they won texas truck of the year. since they have only done it twice, there are only two model years with this package. first generation titan was around 04 or 05, i think, second generation was my year. they won the award in 2016 so they put a texas edition out in 17.

comes with all the chrome and badges, plus the interior says texas edition on the sills and mats. and you get the chrome 20" rims, nice side steps, lined bed with the tie down system and its an sv model.

sv is the mid level truck but whoever ordered this texas package, added every single thing you could get but diesel, sunroof, heated steering wheel, power mirrors, and rear locker. they apparently wanted the texas edition and the top trim level because they paid a bunch to add almost every package you can to the truck, even 4x4.

then they traded it for a new one at the three year mark so we got it for 32k with 29k miles on it, which was a great deal to me.

and i forgot to add, they all come with the same 400hp/400tq engines. none of this options for engines. you either get the v8, or you get the v8. they only offer one engine and transmission combo and 4 or 5 levels of trim.

oddly, my year and trim level happened to be the one that won road and driver or road and track couple of tests they run. they got my year truck to do 0-60 in 5.9

This seems to be pretty common for Japanese cars. I think Subaru only has one engine and transmission combo for like 2/3rds of their vehicles.

I kinda like options.

I was looking at a taco a couple years ago, after picking color and 2/4wd and tow package there wasn't much left.

I would rather have a big check list to pick what I want.

I think manufactures would rather just make 4/5 levels and with the options fixed and you pick what level you want. Easier for them to mass produce I think.
