After six years, my 91' Ranger is rolling again.
I finally rebuilt the M5R1 and put a new clutch assembly in it. My stepdad helped me but it wasn't as bad as I though it would be. I did the whole job for about $350. To be fair, I bought my rebuild kit two years ago. They cost almost double now.
I would go out and start my truck now and then. Move it up and down the driveway. This kept the engine good all this time. I bought it new and just couldn't make myself junk it out or sell it.
I want to thank this forum and everybody on it for the information as well as the tips for helping me out.
The only bad part about this was we had a minor flood a few months back and my front brakes were stuck to the rotors. I tried to break them free but I ended up knocking the calipers back and using my emergency brake for the test drive up my street and at the local high school parking lot.
It shifts fine and the new clutch is nice. I'll get some new calipers (17.00 each ) to swap out this week. It's a nice feeling to drive my Ranger again and know that I rebuilt the transmission at home.
Again, Thanks Guys.
