I am trying to remote mount my icm. does anyone know if I can use standard foil tape and copper wire to cover my tfi ignition wires?? I don't have easy access to a scrap yard and need to get this guy working. Let me know if anyone has any experience in this area.
Thanks
Jon

Are you talking about the three wires from the distributor. Use three wires color coded crimped or soldered with male spade connectors. plug them in then use a rtv high temp silicone gooped aroud them to protect from moisture. Make sure you heat sinc the ICM on a flat surface with the goop or it will burn up fast then do the same on the ICM side with female spade connectors. I hear a good computer processor heat sink is the ticket to disperse the heat the ICM produces anywhere out in the open with good air flow.

Remote Icm

Agreed, but I was under the impression that the spout and pip wires had to be wrapped in foil and an additional wire to protect loss of electric signal, if not, havoc will be wreaked upon your timing. Any truth to such rumors?

You should absolutely wrap the wires, just like the factory did.
It's shielding.
That shielding also needs to be grounded.

ignition wire talk

The wire wrap is grounded through the body of the computer, and then eventually to the body/frame. Does anyone have any ideas as to whether I can use regular foil tape? I am trying to collect oppinions on using a steel loom insead of foil wrap, not having any luck finding old wrapped ignition wires to cut and pull.
