Testing 4x4...how do I know for sure?

ohh okay. like I said I dont even know what AVM or PVH stand for. I would test them before you get snow. I know from personal experience its no fun having your hubs go out when you are in the snow...

Thats how I found out mine went out. I was trying to back out of my buddies cabin uphill. I was just sitting there in 2wd spinning the tires as much as i tried. The neighbor was looking at me like WTF are you doing at 7am? We wer trying to go skiing/boarding. Luckily the neighbor shared the same driveway and I was able to make it into his driveway to get a "running" start into the street. After that it was a very SLOW and cautious drive home. Good memories though.

AVM is a replacement locking hub made for the 1998-mid 2000 year PVH (Pulse Vacuum Hub) that had a tendency to not lock/unlock.

Yup, my auto hubs worked fine, but i just didn't want to take the chance. I had a 92 Exploder for 10 years and the auto hubs never failed me but even so i just never trusted them..the whole electronic bs altogether. I'll test them in the mud the next time we get a good rain :-)
