Terminology

Found a deal mouse in your cereal this morning?

I found a dead mouse slow-cooked on a heater hose in an Escape yesterday. Then I told them it needed an engine.

It's technically a "stabilizer bar" a.k.a. "anti-sway bar", but everyone (inc. myself lol) seems to just call it a "sway bar" (the opposite of what it's purpose is, to counter sway).

Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And I drive on a "parkway" and I park in a "driveway".
There is no such thing as a "giant" shrimp.
And, this is a true "bucket seat"

"Hot water heater". Hot water doesn't need to be heated. What you want is a COLD water heater.

Ah crap, forgot about that. '97 F-150's just had one door on the passenger side. I think '99 is when the DS got a back door too.

I don't think '250+ got the small back doors until the Super Duty.

It was optional on Rangers.
My first Ranger was a 99 that I special-ordered. It had 4 doors which at that time was an option. I think 99 was the first year that Ranger Supercabs offered 4 doors.

There is also the shock absorber. The springs are actually what absorbs the shock of hitting a bump. The shock absorber dampens the oscillations of the spring to prevent bouncing. So, they really should be called dampeners but the baby got thrown out with the bath water long ago.

That leads to the discussion of damping vs dampening.

Cause originally they were electric.

I guess you should tell Ford that they meant to call it engine oil.

My 97 has no rear doors and ive never seen anything pre 99 3/4 ton that did. So yeah the superduty started that.

GM had them back to 95ish IIRC, as did dodge.

I have a 3-door '97 F150. In fact, I just repaired the cable ends so I could open the rear door again.

And the Avalanche was never an SUV that acted like a truck. It was a truck with a built in bed cover and a rear door to access the bed.

Detroit is the Motor City
and Lemmy created MotorHead

Then there is the motor boat and the outboard motor.
