you contradicted yourself, if there's no load, and therefore no amperage on it, then why would they cut half of the motor off?

No, I haven't. A multiple cylinder compressor powered by an electric motor - the compressor is cutting out some of it's cylinders so it has less capacity to pump refrigerant. This takes load off the motor, and drops amperage. There a certain situations when a refrigeration system will do this, such as when there is a light refrigeration load - the middle of winter for example.

And don't get me started on traction control and off-roading. Lockers man, lockers.

In concept traction control should be a big help.

I pretty much do the same thing with my "1wd" tractor, if a tire spins I ease on that brake and continue going... and can do things that supposed "2wd" 4x4 pickups can't dream of.

And if you ease into things with a open diff it will get along fine. One tire has to have a reason break loose.

4wd open > locked 2wd/rwd.
