Ive replace the radiator with another because the old one was leakng i also installed a new thermostat last weekend, it still acts like airs in it the gauge goes way up aNd back down constantly heater works ok but it also bubbles into the resivour i noticed when im at idle stopped, im guessing its air bubbling because the engine does not over heat its just annoying any help will be much appriciated, thanks guys

When it is cold take the radiator cap off and see if it is brim full.. If not then fill it and put the cap back on. Then run it till it is up to temp and look for constant bubbles in the coolant tank..
If you got bubbles you prolly have a problem with the headgasket or a cracked head.
And YES if it is bubbleing there are parts of the head that are too hot! The air stays around the valves and will cause cracks...and real quick too. The gauge might tell you the coolant isn't too hot but it won't tell you the head itself is too hot.

Thanks for the info ill check it out it didnt bubble with the last radiator but this one does?i really hope its not cracked anywhere it runs and drves fine for the last few years beside the valve rattle getting louder and louder. I duno its not really like air bubbling under water its a thump sound when its at idle after it been running about 5-10 seconds inbetween and does it maybe 4 to 5 times and i dont hear it anymore. Could this radiator maybe be leaking as well and letting air in as its purging out?

Perhaps ypu have a small AIR leak in the hose between the coolant tank and the radiator. That hose needs to be tight and tidy! If there is even a small leak in the fittings or hose the radiator won't refill with coolant as it cools off...instead it will suck AIR and will never be full of coolant again.

the first thing to actually do is to verify you have an overheating problem and not an instrumentation issue.

If your guage is lying to you you can spend a whole lot of time chasing your tail.

I only compare the gauge to how it normally operates like half way between the word normal i doubt its overheating ive drove it like this for a month or more ill def look into the radiator hose thought.
