Hello All,

It is cold and I have no Heat. 2000 FWD 2.5L w/ Heat and AC

I noticed my Temp gauge is always on cold just as it turned cold.. it may go up a little, but soon back to cold and below the cold line.

I replaced the Thermostat and water pump .. No change ... that gauge did not move.

Just adding info from what I read ... My top radiator hose gets hot .. the bottom radiator hose remains cool to a lil warm. The 2 heater hoses coming out the firewall - 1 gets hot like the top radator hose( The one closest to the motor) and the other heater hose( The one closest to the out side of the vehicle does not get as hot, but does get warm).

I am going to attempt to flush the radiator( the radiator content was almost black when changing the water pump and thermostat) ... But I don't know which is the inlet hose. I have the prestone flush kit and it indicates I need to place the tee on the inlet hose ???? -

Any help - I am also checking that blend door

Thanks

The heater valve is throwing me off

Where is the inlet hose as it relates to the heater valve - the piece that both heater hoses connect to coming from the firewall

I'm going to take a stab in the dark here and say it really doesn't matter which is which on the valve. Trace your heater hoses back to the block. The hose that comes off of the thermostat housing should be your feeder line for your heater core (it allows coolant to bypass the closed thermostat when the truck is cold allowing your heater core to work). The return line will usually tie in either at the water pump or somewhere in the lines coming back from the radiator (unconfirmed). The valve at the firewall just opens and closes depending on heat demand (or MAX A/C setting if applicable). Direction of coolant flow (entering the valve on the left or right pipe) should be irrelevant.
The blend door would affect heat entering the cabin, but should not have any effect on the temperature of the engine. What temperature range was the thermostat you installed? I believe 195F is the correct setting. Anything colder could cause the engine to not heat properly, similar to not having a thermostat at all (done that one myself - don't recommend it...).

Thanks ... I guess my confusion was where to place the tee fitting or rather on which side of the heater control valve ...

Ok .. again thanks for your help .. I trace the hose off the thermostat
