Tell me about your state.

Gotta throw my vote in for Colorado, we are up in fort collins, which is an awesome town, a little liberal but folks here are so laid back nobody really cares much. I don't ride, but know people who do and they seem to like it. And I think some parts of Colorado are still open carry, but its not done often.

Check this link out for some trails.

Depending on where you are property values vary a bunch, but typically the lower they are the more of a hispanic atmosphere you will have around you. (not being racist, thats just how it is.)

We are looking at oregon too though, it looks like a nice place.:icon_thumby:

well ohio, what is there to say....
We have lake Eerie, Ceder Point, and... 99% of the state is in a cult of OSU worship. If you want people to show up to a function tell them that it is an osu theme and they will be there. Want people to give blood? tell them that they'll get a free osu blanket if they give blood, they give a gallon right there.
We have a lot of good hunting for white tail, and ground hogs. weird combo right. Oh and we have what has to be some of the worst drivers in the country. People don't use their turn singles, they don't yield properly. Yet magically as soon as you cross out of the state people instantly become better drivers. DOn't know what it is about the state, weird.

But hey its home

That has to be one of the best summaries of Ohio that I have seen.

Wisconsin is a good state. Lots of jobs and a non union mentality so you know they'll be there in the future. Very friendly people, good standard of living, and some nice places to wheel. Good fishing, skiing, etc. as well.

EDIT: Gotta get used to the Packers fans though. :)

Yes, Wisconsin is a great state. The packer fans aren't nearly as bad as the OSU fans here.

But Wisconsin is one of only two states that doesn't have a conceal carry law yet. Illinois being the other corrupt state. It is also one of only four states that doesn't have any sort of Castle doctrine. Not a gun friendly state in terms of defending yourself...

It definitely has good hunting and fishing, and very scenic when in the right areas.

Arizona sure is pretty. But the lack of tress concerns me.

If Wisconsin does not allow CCW, then I am not interested. It sure is pretty though. Nice Ranger to.

CO looks nice. I think we should make a trip there and see if first hand. I am just really concerned about the tree huggers I have read about there.

If property is that cheap in Montana, it just moved up on the list. Do you know of any good scources I should look into to get some more information on property?

CO is an awesome place. I don't know about the hunting there but there are 52 peaks over 14,000', lots of parks and lots of National Forrest. The old mining roads are awesome wheeling and it is down right beautiful there. It was my first choice after Alaska. I have lots of friends there and I have spent lots of time in the Boulder/Rocky Mountain NP area climbing and packing. Stay out of Eastern CO unless you like Nebraska. Way flat.

Wyoming would be my third choice. Far East you have Devil's Tower and not much else. You are close to the Black Hills in SD though. The Bighorn Range in the middle of the state is really pretty. West you have Yellowstone, the Grand Tetons, the Wind River Range... Awesome.

Montana is pretty but again, stay out of the Eastern part. Idaho is pretty nice but I haven't spent much time there.

I guess I should start a list and place the states of interest in order then go from there. Right now KY has our attention because of the property prices.but every thing you just said makes me want to hear more. I wish there was a way I could convince my wife to give Alaska a chance.

Ohio
I'm a transplant form New York and have lived in NE Ohio for 14 yrs.Its home. The weather blows, the economy sucks, taxes suck but I still live here.Wanna come?

Obviously, snow and cold weather is not an obstacle to you. I'm a warm weather person. However, kudo's to you on this thread if for no other reason, I've really enjoyed the photographs.

5 Ac of land with pond. Great building site, new water well. Corner of CR 226 and FM 850.

TROUP ISD 34 acres open

You are a long way from the mountains here - but there are river bottoms, trails, and the coast is not too far away. I passed on 12 acres and a four bedroom house, barn, tack room, and pipe corral and stock pond a while back for 140K - house needed remodeling and the wife wasn't into it.

I'll be honest; stay out of the Northeast. We are liberal, have tough gun laws, and off roading is at a premium. Cost of living is relatively high; however I've never had a problem with paying my bills, but it's just me.

However, besides off roading being at a premium, I like where I live for all of the above reasons. Also, we have a lot of history here and some really pretty historical sites. I enjoy that as well.

Those prices are more affordable than I thought they would be. Thanks for the heads up.

I already figured the north east was a no go. But, I sure would like to see up state New York.
