Tell me about your state.

MONTANA Up here in Beautiful Montana, Weve got it all. Off road trucks on the road are as common as hair on a sasquatch. No emissions. Hardly any regulations on vehicles. Cheap to live here compared to other states. Great hunting, fishing, boating, partying, and more in the spring summer and fall, great snow-catting, snow wheeling, snow skiing, snow boarding, snow sledding in winter. Never too hot or humid in the summer(this years high I believe was 96) The winters usually do get into the negatives, but this year hasnt been below 15 so far. Small town environment everywhere, and very hospitable people. If you cant find work in the Flathead Valley, you obviously dont want to work.

I could go on all night about why to choose Montana, but I wouldnt even come close to getting halfway through the reasons why montana. Hey, take a vacation, check us out sometime.

i personally would stay out of jersey, cost of living is high, taxes are high, its very hard to get a carry permit, there are very few places to ride your atv and go off-roading without getting hassled

based on what your looking for, i don't thunk you would be happy here in jersey( im leaving in a year or so)

X10 on everything he said

I personally recommend looking into;NC, CO, AZ, MO, IL, or Nor Cal.

Montana is a very good possibility. Do you know what land is going for? What about how well cops are paid?

Yeah, I knew Jersey would not be a good choice.

i live in washington on the west side of the mountains and there is alot to do here. it sounds like you and i like doing the same things on our free time. liveing is not bad , very good pay, jobs are good, i love this state it does rain but not like every one thinks we do have nice days. i just got some land in idaho up in the pan handle and that place is great, i would live over there , lots of land can do any thing you want its a hella cool place and it is really cheap liveing, jobs arent to good but you are close to washington so you can work in washington that way you get the good pay . but any way ill try to get pics of idaho for you its a very nice place if you like the out doors and good weather.

CO is soem place I have always wanted to see. If the trails are not being clsoed like I have heard, then it is still a possibility. What about the gun laws?
I just bought a AK-47 2 weeks ago and walked out of the store the same day(the CBI background check system is being overrun with background checks)., so we are pretty open to guns here(biggest problem is manufacturers can't keep up with the demand right now).
A lot of the problems with road closures is that the BLM have roads that are surrounded by private land. They will close these roads down due to lack of access. There are some road closures that affect everyone, but if the various groups would get involved with the BLM and help with their impact studies, things would change. I have been to many of these meetings, and voice my opinions at them. IT IS THE ONLY WAY TO HELP COMBAT THE CLOSURES!!!!!!!
There are very few groups/people that get involved at this level. This is the correct way to do it, EVERYWHERE.
Whatever your choices are be sure to keep us updated......:icon_hornsup:

Pffft. Alaska. People say Hawaii is paradise. They are quite wrong. I live in paradise. If outside and wilderness are your things, there is nowhere else like it. I could literally walk out my back door at any time, across a 1 acre city park, across a remote section of Ft. Richardson and right into Chugach State park (much bigger than many NP's). I could spend the rest of my life never seeing another human being if I chose and I live on the edge of the largest city in the state!

Texas is Alaska's bitch. Split Alaska in half and Texas would be the third largest state with enough land left over for another Minnesota.

If you want to see a fence, you will have to go and look for it. Everything is wide open. Access is a bit of an issue as the terrain is quite rugged but well worth the effort.

If you can legally own a firearm, you can carry it concealed. There are no state taxes. There is no sales tax. We receive a Permanent Fund check every year just for living here. We have more mountains, more coast line, more lakes, more glaciers than anywhere else you could go. It is paradise. The wheeling is great and the flying is better.

Colorado and Wyoming are my second choices. Both are awesome places. Those pics of the Moffat Rail bed and Rawlins Pass bring back memories. Wasn't too long ago you could drive all the way through to Winter Park on that trail. Lots of good wheeling in CO.

How are cops paid in CO and Alaska?

I wish my wife would be opened mined about Alaska. I have never been, but I here the cold is not that bad in some parts.

I cannot believe I forgot this on my list.

I want to live in a biker friendly state as well. I have a cruiser and I will have and R1 by the time I get home. I would prefer a state that does not have a helmet law.

Washington has a helmet law...but I have to ask....why wouldn't you want to wear a helmet?

Washington/Oregon are pretty nice. The rain 9 months out of the year on the west side blows, the summers can get pretty hot, no hurricanes/tornadoes (well a tornado did blow through town last january, came within a few miles of my house)/major earthquakes. Nice scenery/outdoors. Oregon has a state income tax but no sales tax, I like buying expensive things in Oregon :D I really enjoyed Montana the time I visited there too. The more populated places have emissions but there's no inspections. And we have beaches if you like the coast.
What are the gun laws like in WA?
Not bad, waiting period for handguns, none for long guns. You can own silencers (with a tax stamp) but it's illegal to discharge a silenced weapon in washington  Otherwise I'd get one when I turned 21.
Some scenery.

I do not mind a waiting period.

I will wear a helmet on the R1 but when I am out for a cruise, I want to enjoy it. I should not be forced to wear one. It is my life and my ride.

When my kids graduate, Vanessa and I want to move to northeast Tennessee and leave Ohio. Ohio has a lot of entertainment and I always loved growing up in greater Cleveland, but I like the country settings better.

When we move to northeast Tennessee, we will be able to make an easy weekend trip to Hazard Kentucky, Windrock (Coal Creek) or Tellico. Plus you have the Smokey Mountain attractions. It will also put me close to Bristol to see some NHRA or or NASCAR racing.

Washington? Heck, even James Duff left Washington to move to Tennessee.
