Colorado was on my short list. I read a lot about the trail systems and I thought I had found my new home. But I heard the liberals are taking that state over and closing trails faster then they can be faught off.

Tennessee is where our family lives. They libe Greene county near Johson City. At one time we oth wanted to move there. But the cost of land as gottne stupid over the past few years.

Idaho is worth considering, especialy since I laerned abot the security jobs at the nuclear facilities.

Wyoming, is one of the states my wife and I agreed that we could live in. There aren't many states we both agreed we could live in.

the trails that have been closed off here in CO are trails that were ATV trails and kinda morphed into 4x4 trails over the years, as they did they got trashed and treated like trash dumps. not all of them are beaing closed down. just the ones that are beaing trashed. not all trails are closed for those reasons though.

we have this group

http://staythetrail.org/

they try to work with the USFS to keep places open and keep the land from beaing trashed/closed

its a pretty nice state, its got its places were the retards gather; but what place hasnt? i kno we got a few military areas that you could take a look at, buckley AFB in Aurora were i live, then you got the Air Force acadmey in CO Springs etc.

what you need to do is find the state that is the exact oposite of Kalifornia

I fuggin hate this state,
I would like to one day move to a real one, that at least pretends to be American.

Arkansas

we haven't been affected by recession as much as the rest of the US. this is mainly because everyone else is just starting to drop down to being as poor as we have been for the past 100 years.

no vehicle inspection/smog checks. drive whatever the hell you want to, just keep your plates and insurance current.

we have the superlift offroad park in hot springs.

moonshine.

i moved from california to oregon in march this year...cant say i regret it at all...this states beautiful, excellent wheeling, none of the liberalism of san francisco lol....but a good blend of people who recognize what needs to happen to secure our individual rights. im in southern oregon, and its not overly rainy like parts of washington, but has all 4 seasons...they are a little weird about their guns tho, dont misunderstand! basically, to buy any guns here you need to be an oregon resident, and it doesnt matter if you have an out of state ccw...its something along those lines, but this state likes to keep everything 'oregon' for the most part...i think you would enjoy the state....its not an hours drive from civilization but its a good blend of country small town living and suburbs. check it out....im better at answering questions than describing the place lol

Hate to burst a bubble, Oregon is incredible EXCEPT for the west of the cascades. western oregon is run by the tree huggers/ libs.they have destroyed our timber ind. fishing ind, no manufacturing jobs.............However, central oregon/ eastern oregon, are out of this world. conservatives run things and its a outdoor heaven, fishing, hunting /shooting /wheeling.............Unfortunatly, no jobs here either, bring money.

Exactly what I was going to say. While I do love this state and I cant imagine ever leaving, I could not recommend it for you.

Maybe Arizona. We are still republicans here, az has a open carry law, and the ablity to get you CCW if you would like. And for a awesome job would be working for the border patrol.

What you described fits Central or East Texas to a "T" - We have lots of space, everyone loves, guns, dogs, trucks, and the American Flag. If you stay out of Austin or Dallas you can avoid the liberals. There is a great coastal area for 4 Wheeling as well as a Mountain Range. Cost of living is pretty good, jobs are plentiful, especially around Houston after the hurricane and our employment rate is well above the national average.

There are a lot of good law enforcement jobs in medium sized towns that will pay around $30K. Larger cities can have supervisory jobs in 5 years and approach 100k by retirement age. (You can live in a smaller city) Tyler, Lufkin, San Antonio, Waco, Abilene, Fort Worth, and any of the suburbs around the DFW metroplex or Houston - all have good police agencies. Jobs for mechanics, welders, machinists are wide open. Keep in mind if you go to San Antonio or south you'll need to be bi-lingual. A place to look you might not think of is the Texas Parks and Wildlife department. They have lots of toys (boats, horses, motorcycles, trucks and trailers, night vision, etc.) and enjoy a great deal of status among other law enforcment people. The Lower Colorado River Authority has a lot of Eco-cops who do a lot of good work afloat.

I was a police chief in two different Texas communities - email me directly if you want:

I don't know if its already been posted ........... STAY AWAY FROM MICHIGANISTAN! I don't know how else to put that. Not a good state to move to.

My company relocated to the Ft Collins area of Colorado and I decided to stay here (Wisconsin) without a job than move out there. Big water problems coming out there, too many people moving in and wanting to change it from the beautiful place it was. I'd pick one of the middle states, Tenn, Kentucky, Mo. Mild Winters compared to up here and good back home people (away from the big cities) from all the ones I have delt with. Price of living goes down but then also does your income in some cases. Really a hard call, one of them catch 22's problems. Make the big bucks in a place you like but it costs in other ways.

When I get home for good we want to leave Columbus Georgia badly. Right now we are taking a serious look at the Valdosta area. If we were to stay in Georgia, that is where we will be. However, I would rather leave Georgia altogether. I have seen more of the rest of the world than I have my own country. The problem is we have no idea where to begin. So, I was hoping you all could tell me a bit about the state you live in and help us get started on our hunt for a new home.

This is what we are looking for.

1. We are big outdoor enthusiast. We have off road trucks, ATV’s, and horses. We want to live some where we can enjoy these hobbies and not have some pricks giving us crap over it.
2. I am most likely going to pursue a career in law enforcement when I return. (However, the fire academy is also a possibility.) I am also interested in a security or force protection job on a military base. (That is what I currently do). So if you could tell me about the law enforcement agencies and bases in your area that would be great.
3. NO LIBERALS. I do not want to deal with people telling me I am wrong for running big tires on a big truck. Or bothering us for trail riding in the woods.
4. I own guns and want to enjoy them. I would prefer a state that will recognize my concealed weapon permit or at least allow me to get a new one for that state.
5. Cost of living. I think this goes with out saying.
6. Cost of land and taxes. Just give me a rough idea as to what we would be looking at.
7. We want to live in a small town environment with good schools.

I think that about sums up what we are looking for. Please feel free to tell me all about your area and state.

Sounds like your in the wrong part of Georgia. Its nice over here in Warner Robins. The cost of living is pretty good. Its a good size town with about 50,000 people. We do have Warner Robins Air Force Base. Schools are pretty nice to, next to non drugs in our school systems. We did win the Little League World Series if you have kids that play baseball, or softball. Not sure about the liberals, haven't run into one.

I don't know if this helps you out but, I describe it the best I could. I have been to Columbus once and hated it, I don't blame you for wanting to leave.

I am having a hard time keeping up with all this information. Maybe I should start a list of state that I will not move to. That might help.

TN is nice, we have family there. i just do not like the cost of land.

CO is soem place I have always wanted to see. If the trails are not being clsoed like I have heard, then it is still a possibility. What about the gun laws?

OR is a place I want to see very badly, but the lack of jobs is a concern. Not to mention the tree huggers. How are the cops paid?

AR is some place I ahve not thought much about. WHat are the land prices like?

well vegas may be decent for you except for that its not a small town.

-good selection of quad riding
-good offroading for trucks both "prerunner" stuff and rock crawling
-cops are high demand and we have an airforce base
-right now nobody can sell their houses and they are goin cheap (im sure everywhere else is doing the same)
i think the average for a house is around 150G's (a lot with pools)
-tons of places to shoot guns and plenty of gun shows
-good view of the mountains no matter where in the valley your at
-we have a lake
-skiing and snowboarding within an hour away

i have no idea what the cost of living is comapaired to with other places i would have to live there to know but im sure its alittle higher than georgia

as for the schools there is a lot of really good schools which just depends on the area, but a rule of thumb is that the further away from the middle of vegas you are the nicer eveything is going to be.

its hot as hell here in the summer but there is a lot of upsides to the weather
-no snow blizzards
-no tornados
-no floods
-when its hot its not humid

and another good thing is that EVERYBODY puts big tires on their trucks (no thats not why i put 35's on my ranger haha)
