Tears in my Eyes

It's always cheaper to hit the deer. Use as much brake as you can, but if you swerve out of your lane and hit anything, you are responsible.

Sorry to hear about truck, but i would say it is totalled with that amount of damage.

I dunno, I've seen worse get fixed instead of totaled. There may be hope yet. Just need a frame donor.

Hate to say it, but I think it is probably totaled.

Mom got sideswipped in her '02 Explorer last December, just for a fender and two doors it was on the line to get totaled. The insurance guy gave dad the option since it was literally right on the line. It had just under 100k miles on it at the time, and except for the drivers door not opening very far it drove fine.

Bodywork is EXPENSIVE. Not so much the parts but the labor.

They are going to see your milage and come running with a check.

Im not sure how it works down there but up here they can brand them with non rebuildable salvage titles if it is deemed unfixable and it looks unfixable from an insurance standpoint to me.

if it is I call dibs on the shifter :D

First off WOW that sucks. I think its pretty close to totaled but it can be fixed if your motivated enough.

Second I have never heard of a non rebuild able salvage title, but if it cant be put back on the road it is a perfect for trail rig.

Not really for sure how it works either.

My Ranger was totaled over 12 hail dings in the hood but still has a clean title.

I think they have to officially be junked. In my case it was a matter of cashing in on what insurance thought it was worth and getting liablity coverage until I fix it after that.

mine was t boned and got a salvage title, its not only the damage, i think the mileage counts too. mine had 110,xxx miles when it got totaled.

screw body repair shops, 300$ at pick and pull can getcha some doors and a fender plus other goodies

i'm a bit curious as to how fast he was going when he went into the air.

I have hit a few dear in my drivetime. Good that you walked away from it. I have never swerved and only hit them. Hitting the brakes often lays down some good skid marks on the road and in my bvd's. Body damage is far better than a rollover.

the last thing i was paying attention to was the gauges , hell i barely remember anything from the accident , just bits and pieces , it was all a blur , but my passenger said it went in slow motion for them

First off, glad to see your OK.

If it was my truck I'd fix it even if it took years to do. An Fx4 like that is irreplaceable. There are plenty of frames out there if it's bent too bad. My buddy once got drunk one night and flew down a farm path into a ditch head on in a three month old 1987 Reg. Cab long bed 5 speed 4X4. Bent the frame all to hell. His dad bought it back from the insurance company and got a local body shop to straighten the frame. Overall he paid less than what Ford wanted for the truck new. Made out like a bandit.
