so i had this idea and i hadnt been on here in months( i did se the TDI ranger build AWESOME) but i did some math and a B2 would be about 100lbs (3276lbs) lighter if this swap was accomplished with a100hp and 177ft.lbs torque(tdi) in stock form as apposed to 140 hp and 140 ft/lbs(2.9 according to google). but would get closer to 35-40 mpg if the 4runner guys are telling the truth.a fully loaded TDI bettle weighs 2712 and gets close to 50 mpg in stock form. HPA Motorsports CLAIMS a computer flash and their cam will yeild you 190 hp and 285 ft/lbs. so my ? is why are we doing more of these swaps ??????

I WILL BE AFTER TAXES :icon_welder:

^I assume this is what you meant to ask.^

Its a large initial investment as far as time and money. A lot of people dont have either.

thanks for fixing my ?. i guess but people are doing 5.0 and 4.0 swaps this wouldnt be much more if any at all

I can find 4.0's and 5.0's all day long at my local yard for less than $200 fully dressed with fead and all electronics. Show me where I can pick up the TDI and 4bt for that and I'll start two of them tomorrow :icon_thumby:

I can do a 4.0l swap, start to finish, in a weekend. (I, know, I've done it.)
I've been working on a diesel conversion forever now. Its way more involved.

I wanted to do that to my b2 before k traded it. I was gonna stick a om617 Mercedes in it.... did not get that far

cost effective tdi are rare around me. i have looked at jdm powertrains because i prefer a diesel but the 3.7 gasser is starting to look good to me over a small diesel due to costs.

No old Mercedes diesel cars around ?

Motivation, you forgot motivation. I haven't changed my oil in 6 months because I don't have to motivation. I also haven't driven 1500 miles this year.

Well I was only talking about my Ranger. Guess I should have been more specific.

If you count driving other people's cars for work I probably log 1500 every two weeks.

Your not paying for the fuel... it doesnt count.

OK.

I don't drive much anymore. I used to rack up 12 to 15,000 a year when I live near Harrisburg. Last year I drove my truck almost every day and barely put 5,000 on it.

i buy and make my fuel.....
