Does anyone know which wiring/computer works best with the 3.8 TBI swap, the ones from a 2.9 or the ones from a 3.8 T-Bird? And also what brand/model inline fuel pump works since a 2.9 tank is not an option for me due to availability. Has anyone rigged in a B2 tank? Thanx.

The 88 computer works pretty good. No EGR, no smog pump. I would go with the wiring that comes with the computer, unless your good with wiring. I used my original 84 wiring and modified it, but I really can't recommend that route. As far as the pump, I grabbed an in tank one from an Explorer at Pull and Save.

When I did mine..

And when we did my dads...

I will note that none of the truck have them on it now due to over fueling issues. We didnt have the time to tune them so we just durasparked them. But if I were to do it all over again, and could since I have both the systems, I would go wit the 2.9 wiring harness and computer. Only thing with that is you have to run all the stuff that the 2.9 computer touches. I was running a 2.3 tank and pumps and my dads setup was running a plastic tank with just a single in tank pump that came off a gen 2 ranger that was running a 2.3 also. The 2.3, 2.9 run the same pressure, but as long as you keep the pressure at 44psi (ford factory) then you should be good. Only thing with the 3.8 is the computer doesnt know its on a 2.8 and the injector pulses were to long and they were being opened up to much hince the over fueling issue. We tried a fuel pressure regulator and they didnt work to well. Since the 2.9 has a batch fire setup, just hook the 2.9 wires into the 3.8 TB injectors and you should be good, since they are hooked together anyways on the 3.8 from the factory and both open and close at the sametime.

And one thing that I never got to do or look much into was putting the GM 2.8 setup on a ranger, let alone if the wiring and whatnot could be done or just the TBI unit could run with the ford wiring since the injectors are the correct size for what a 2.8 needs fueling wise.

Thanks guys for the responses, if anyone else has info on this I will appreciate it. I found a rear tank from an 86 and a B2 tank so I may go with one of those. The 2.9 electronics makes more sense.
