my wifes taurus, a 3.0 gl '93 has a wiper problem, they stopped working altogether, this is the wiper motor with 2 connectors (has interval wipers) i think part of the problem in a relay under the dash, if i have the key on, wipers on and install/remove the circut breaker, i hear a click from behind the dash, near the radio. i got a junkyard motor and harness pigtails when i thought the slip clutch was bad, i jumpered directly to the motor and the motor would work but there was this snapping noise and no wipers moving. i took the motor back off and ran it without being in the car, was still "snapping" took off some plate with a detent under it that went under the bellcrank arm, still has the slipclutch (i assume thats what that is) but plenty of resistance, it should work. put it all back together, put a swich on the dash (bypassing the factor m.f.s. and relay) tried it, worked but drivers wiper wasnt touching glass, arm wasnt down fully after putting arm back on. got that took care of and then they started to work, snapping noise came back, will work if you help it, arms seem to move free enugh by hand, i dont know whats the matter with this thing. ive got it setup for low-speed only, maybe there is some way to "lock" the slip-clutch? i wish i could afford another car for her, this thing has had more electrical gremlins than anything ive ever owned. with only 130K on it, its a shame but its very aggrevating. i know with my rigged setup there will be no "park" feature, but im merely trying to get working wipers for the moment and fix it right later.

Did you say it worked with the factory switch/wiring while disconnected from the wiper trans?

yes it will run unhooked from the factory wireing, but even though its "jumpered" right now with a seperate switch, there is a snapping from this slipclutch, and everything moves freely by hand. i dont know if i need to take apart all the linkages and clean them or try to defeat the slipclutch mechanism.

I'm suspecting the switch to be honest. There is a component test for it out there, I just have to find a copy.
