Target stand

I've been wanting to do some target shooting and found that DNR has a free shooting range about a 30 minute drive from my house. You have to provide your own target stand NOT constructed of metal. So today, I created this based loosely on a design I saw online. I've got about $45 in materials in it. That and fuel for my truck will be less than a range membership somewhere.

Broken down for storage and transport.

Looks good. I just use a plastic christmas tree stand and stick a 2x4 in it when I go to the outdoor range.

I use two steel fence posts in the ground with a third across the top suspending a old disk blade with a piece of old baler belt.

Like eric, my place wont let you use anything made of metal.

Also no glass, no human shapes or silhouettes, no food products (watermelons), no liquids, no car tires, and somehow this needed to be stated... no live animals.

That would be great if I could shoot at home on my own property. DNR rules specify no metal construction.

I would just shoot at home. But I'm on a half acre lot with neighbors all around. I just don't think they would enjoy the holes in their cars and homes.

Yeah, wouldn't work so hot for a pistol either. Once my corn gets so tall it blocks the target too.

Looks great, I'd love to make something like this. Lots of my spots involve hikes so carrying that rather than metal would be ideal.

I've used live animals for target practice a couple times a week since September.

I call it "hunting".
