We had 3 kids my age get killed in a crash on Friday. We had a ton of rain recently and all the ditches are flooded, and some kids where drag racing on the way to school in the rain, one of them lost control and went into the ditch, his three passengers where killed. I am sure they drowned which is a horrible way to die, and he is going to be charged with 3 counts of manslaughter. I like a good race like everybody else but there is a time and a place for. I have heard numerous stories like this and I hope people will learn for them.

So please take it to the track, the street isn't worth the risk.

Typical, the one driving gets away...

Hope they lock him away for a long ass time and use him as an example.

ok i finally found the whole story, what happened was their was firebird and a grand prix racing to one of there houses. the grand prix had three people in it and the firebird had one. the firebird started hydroplaning and clipped the grand prix sending both off the road and flipping into a ditch full of water. the guy in the firebird was able to get out the other three where trapped and drowned to death.

only Scumbags race with other people in their cars (races that use navigators excluded)

I feel for his 3 friends , but not him. I hope while he sits in prison, he learns a valuable lesson from this.

This is very unfortunate. How many kids lose their lives for no reason? I knew a couple kids in high school who suffered the same fate. Day-to-day life is risky enough as it is. Nobody knows when or why God is going to take us. Why do things that increase the risk that you're going to die?

This might sound crappy, but maybe the passengers who died might have to share some of the blame. Unless they were demanding that the driver stop the car the entire time he was racing, they played a role in it, too. If they were in to it and getting a thrill out of it, then the people who died could just as easily have been behind the wheel.

The thing that pisses me off the most when people street race is the blatant disregard for anyone or anything but themselves. If people want to race where they shouldn't be, in unsafe conditions, and they get themselves killed - then that's their problem. But it's the other innocent people that they put at risk that bothers me the most. Maybe they didn't think anyone else was around at the time, but you never know who or what is around the corner. At the end of the day, I'd rather see racers kill themselves than to kill people just trying to get from point A to B in their car or mowing down a pedestrian.

And none of this would ever have to happen if kids would just use their brains.

X3 ..i used to street race regularly in my younger days but neither me or the guys i raced with would ever ever race with someone in the car and we only did it late at night on roads that were clear (we would block them) and yes it is still very very dangerous

me too i street raced late at night it wasnt the smartest thing to do my dad being a cop and all untill one night dad gives me a call at 2 in the mornin making sure i wasnt dead... he got called in for a wreck 2 guys were stupid enough to drag the main strip in the town dad worked at... when they hit the high school teens they were going 140+... the teens (2 18 year old girls coming home from prom were killed) after one guys nitrous bottle exploded dad said the engine was in the passengers lap... after that i only race at real drag strips after hearing you dad at 2 in the mornin thinkin your dead it gets to ya

You know I really agree with jay fx4 if you in a car with somebody racing it's time to be a wet blanket or real bummer.I've had good friends mad at me when I was young but I don't want other people making those choices for me.

I'm with you, brother.

When I was 16 or 17, I remember being with a group of friends, one of whom was driving his moms Aerostar, and we were all cruising. He decided it would be "cool" to do 60+mph down 25mph residential streets. I made him stop and let me out, and I walked home.

They didn't kill themselves or anyone else that day, but that's not the point. They easily could have.

Not enough people learn the lesson, and too many never learn it even after something like this.

I know a kid who totaled his firebird and seriously injured his passenger showing off... and he's getting another damn firebird and is gonna keep acting like an idiot. I just hope no one is with him next time it happens.

I also hate dipshits that roll up to you and try to race.

A. I'm in a truck
B. It's a slow truck
C. Even if I was in a fast car I wouldn't race cuz ya gotta keep it to the track
D. I wouldn't race anything unless it was built for it

There was a couple kids here a few years back playing chicken on US127, one in a 4x4 Dodge Ram, the other in a friggin camero, the ended up hitting head on, the dude in the dodge decapitated the dude in the camero, how would that make you feel knowing you just cut your buddies head off?

later,
Dustin

i went to high school with some dipsh*t jock that mommy and daddy gave 20000 for a car. he bought a like 96 mustang gt. pretty nice car. he wrecked it street racing, stuffed it into a pole. before we knew it, the car was back and loked like nothing ever happened. even more locally, mona nd dad buy high school girl a new mustang, she totals it after a few months, they run out and buy her a gt this time!

in the first case parents dont help sometimes and deserve part of th blame for not teaching their kids to do right. even worse paying to fix their car back up like it never happened. in the second case, if your child cant handle a v6, why reward them for destroying a new car with a more powerful new car. i dont know how that girl wrecked, but down here it happens every year. I hate seeing the news and hearing about teens or even young adults, dieing in wrecks due to complete stupidity. i feel for the victims in the op, but somewhere alomng the line, parents and local police departments need to step it up!
