I just finished installing a sub and amp a few days ago. Got in my truck to come to work, started my truck and my dash lights flickerd then went off. Turned my lights off and on and still didnt work. Then got to work and notced my taillights dont work. Checked some fuses and they seem fine. Please help!

update

Everytime I replace the fuse for my taillights in the PD box, the fuse blows. Put a 25 amp instead of 15 in, cranked my truck, and smoke came out of my dashboard. Any suggestioins? I guess I'm going to have to take the dash out and replace that wire?

Yep, because of that. Never replace a fuse with a higher AMP one. However, now that it is burned you can find the faulty wire which probably been rubbed free of its plastic jacket against a sharp bracket somewhere.
What is the fuse number?
I also have a 98 Ranger with the Ford electronic diags book.

Are you talking about fuse #11 in the engine compartment?

#11 fuse protects the park lamp wiring and main light switch. The problem may have a been a deteriorated light switch but now is also a burned out wire perhaps.

How are you powering the amp? Obvious question, I know, but it should come straight off the battery (with in line fuse). If you spliced in under the dash, you are going to melt wires and start fires.

Also check the amp ground to make sure it's on bare metal.

amp is powered by battery

Yes it is fuse 11. So on top of having a faulty switch I know have to replace the wiring?
