Anybody know who sells tailgate wings for a 96 ranger:icon_welder::icon_welder:

why?

But I have to laugh at front wheel drives with a tail in the rear.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but whale tales are suppose to create down force to keep traction. Now if the ricers are putting force down in the rear, that's taking off weight in the front. Retarded.

I think it is more to push the car down to the road, mainly trying to look like a car that would need it I think. A Formula car makes enough downforce front and rear that if you had a track that flipped upside down it would still stick to it. A Civic with a wing held on with 8 screws in the trunk lid... not quite so much.

A truck on the otherhand is an aerodynamic mess after the back of the cab, a wing would do nothing aside from look good in the eyes of a few.

Exactly. But it's going to create more down force at the point of the wing.

And we've all seen that picture of the bronco towing the double wide with the front suspension at full droop and barely keeping enough contact to steer.

Besides that, a 3.0 doesn't warrent a wing.

But just to be nice,

a racerback doesn't look too bad depending on the rig.

But why waste the money for this?

I think the big gaudy front bumpers are an attempt to do the same for the front in between being removed by speedbumps.

i got one better; how about a 1 ton duelly with one? i think you can look at them at LMC Truck or try ebay

lol yes you are correct there are a ton of mexicans that dont inderstand this and put wings on the honda civics lol

mock me if u want but i got a wing on the back of my ranger.. :)

Exactly. But that's not why they do it, they need something to push it home with when it breaks.

I could think of a hundred different things I would rather spend the money on besides a wing.

Like everyone has already said, they don't look good at all. Have someone photoshop a picture of one on your Ranger. I guarantee you'll think twice.

wing=downforce=handling...

a front engine front wheel drive car has NO weight in the rear, adding a wing gives downforce to stick to the road...

but i doubt it even makes a difference under 100 mph lol

a CART "Indy car" at 120mph created enough downforce that if it were running on the roof of a tunnel it could still corner at 3g's

The wings on some open wheeled race cars are to "tune" the downforce and create drag, the rear wing mostly to keep the back of the car in the back
It's the venturi side pods and the rear diffuser ducts that create the bulk 70% or so of the downforce.

Now for full bodied cars that wing isn't going to "stick" the car any better
but if you've ever driven a REALLY FAST FWD car, not these ricer shits which are "quick" but not fast, and the two are ENTIRELY different, you'd know that undersome circumstances suddenly taking your foot off the gas will result in a spectacular accident rivaling a Mulsanne strait smash up.

People used to joke about the goofy little wing on the back of my saab hatchback, but running the car at over 110mph without it would make you wish for an ejector seat. 130mph the car is trying to swap ends
(and in a FWD car you can't lift because it makes it MORE unstable)
The car was actually quite comfortable at 140mpg with the wing installed.

But at 140 the way my car was geared it was all out of revs,
mine was set up to accelerate QUICKLY to 130mph not to go
160mph.

I suspect that Saab being an aircraft company first and a car company second knew what they were doing aerodynamically because the aerodynamics really started working noticeably at 75-80mph

Most of that stuff you see the rice boys using is like fishing lures...

You do understand that most fishing lures are designed to catch fishermen (or their wallets) not fish?

I considered my engine set up to be relatively "mild" as I was
only spinning the engine to 7200rpm. tuned right and the
valvetrain literally blows off the top of a Saab "H" engine
at 9200-9300rpm

Let me point out that aerodynamic aids create drag to do their job.
WEIGHT slows acceleration but doesn't add materially to drag.
Thus the reason why the guys why run on the salt buy lead
blocks instead of aluminum wings.

Personally on my own truck I use "liquid ballast"
I have TWO auxilary fuel tanks, a 21 where the
spare tire usually is and a 40gallon tank disguised
as a tool box against the head gate.

Even so I was able to light the tires with all tanks full
(540# of fuel) AND 1500# of coal in the bed.
This is why I want to get rid of my 4.10's and regear to 3.73's

My supercab with a 40gal of fuel onboard weighs 4720#
