Tailgate handle

The tailgate handle broke on my '08 and needs to be replaced. I was wondering how hard is it to replace it and any tricks on getting it done easier?

Nevermind, I went to a local jy and pulled one of an '02 and it fits just fine.

Yeah, I'm still gonna post anyway They're crazy easy, don't ever buy the Dorman replacement... They break and break and break and break again... I've gone through 7 now...

Dude what? The 4.9 was a straight 6, not a V-8 and it wasn't in the Explorers.

Eddie Bauer -5.0 (the thing never had the balls to be a 5.0 - bought it a little trashed - so we always called it just a little lower - 4.9)

I believe the 4.0 was the only available v6 for the Explorer around then, wasn't it??

I should probably change that back eventually.

The 4.0 was the only V6 in the RWD body on frame Explorers. The new ones have a 3.5L V6 standard.
