Being in NE ohio i am used to rust on vehicles. Its just a simple way of life here. We get snow, county coats the roads in salt, our trucks rust, Bondo sales spike. I thought it a good idea to nip the rust on my tailgate in the butt. I had bought a tub of Herculiner a few months back for my bed/lower fenders and i decided that since i'm off work from an injury now would be a good time to test it out on the surface cancer of my tail gate.
tiny bubbles. . .but these ones not in my beer aren't making me happy.
opened up the cover and i discovered these.
yes those are chunks of whats supposed to be the inside of my gate. I opened another beer and got out the wire wheel.
So, for the the $25,000 question. . .do i teach myself to weld/body work, say eff it and goto pull a part for a new gate, or say "i don't care" spray it in herculiner and wait for it to rot the rest of the way?
what was gonna be a nice 2 day diversion has become my nemesis.
