Tail Lights

All,
I have a issue i have a 2005 ford ranger stx model with the 4.0. I havent found anybody that sells a aftermarket tail for that truck. the 05 stx model has a diffrent type of tail light than the normal 05 ranger.

Yeah i dont think they do if so i can't find them. Anybody have an idea how to get the factory tails smoked or tinted?

nightshades is great for blacking out tails. its like a spray paint but the lights still show through it. you can get them pretty dark before it starts making them too dim to see. you can either google it and get it online or IIRC it is part sp999 from oreileys auto parts

You can have them painted, I believe it is 80% clear coat and 20% black paint?
Post around and attend meets, if you were in Florida I could have your tails painted.

nightshades is like spray paint, it can go on any tail light. its not a stick on cover or anything. http://www.3sx.com/store/comersus_viewItem.asp?idProduct=733 there is a link to it. you can also get it on ebay. its easy to use, all you have to do is make sure the lights are clean and sand them very lightly with a fine sandpaper. I also put a coat of clear on mine to make it a little shiny.

Here's something that's pretty neat...

These are 'nightshades' from japan. Avaliable in differnet colors. You could coat it in red to get rid of the amber signal, THEN cover it with the 'smoke'/black shade paint. That would be pretty sweet...

I understand this stuff has a very high gloss to it, rather than being flat and ugly like the VHT Nightshade stuff sold in the states.

i think there should be a limit to how dakr you can go, them brake lights are hard to see with the sun glare, but look really nice

Technically the stuff isnt street legal. I checked between coats to make sure the brakes were still bright and I did not shade the 3rd brake light. Later I might get a line of fire LED bar to augment the tails. But its one of those things where you have to make sure they are still visible and if you think you went too dark you'll find out when you get a ticket.

you know, ive been kind of wondering what to do with my 3rd brake light. i hate those stupid chrome covers, but theres not really any other aftermarket options. but ill bet if i blacked it out with that stuff it would look cool...especially on a black truck
