I'm trying to put a tach into my 84 ranger 2.0. Im having trouble with where to put the green wire. I've looked on the forum and it says negative side of the coil or spiced onto the green wire on from the coil. However, on my coil, there is a plastic thing that slides onto the coil that hooks up to the terminals. The positive side has red wires and the negative has TWO green wires and it also reads tach test on the plastic thing. I spliced the green wire from the tach onto but nothing. I cant even get the tachometer to light up. I have it connected at the fuse box for power. any thoughts?

Can you tell us what type of Tach you are trying to install. Usually pretty straight forward install.

Red wire to switched power
Black wire to truck ground
Green wire to coil (for your engine)

White wire (if present) to light dimmer

Most of the time their is a switch to select cylinders (4,6,8) make sure the switch is set to 4 or you might not get a signal.
