tach on a 4.0 conv.

alright ive got my wire can i test this with a meter (ac or dc) and can i keep my stock guage. ive asked advance auto zone napa and jegs they all say buy the guage that would be alright if i was running a ricer they look like crap. thanks for the help.

cant remember off hand the wire for 6cyl on an 88...i think its green with yellow. the tach itself will work fine with the 4.0

sorry that was scatter brained. let me try again. i just put a 91 4.0l in my 88 b2 i was told that my 88 tach will not work with my 4.0 signal. i am wanting to keep my 88 tach i have, how do i do this?

You were lied to.

I did a 4.0 conversion on my 1987 supercab last summer.
The 1987 tach works perfectly.


Bobby is right it is Green Yellow, but my EVTM shows it as DARK green/Yellow.

the wire you want to be looking to attach it to on the 4.0 wiring
is TAN/Yellow.
