Hello all! i was out driving my 4x4 yesterday and on my way back home from the trail on the highway i noticed when i tried to get up and going the the tach needle was not moving smoothly(bouncing around) when accelerating and there was lack of power!
Anyone ever had this happen to them and what caused it??

Thanks
Kris

check and clean all the connectors under the hood if your engine got wet use dielectric grease when putting them back together also could be a shorted wire look for any burnt cracked wires oxy sensor wires usual culprit. If it runs good cold check the TFI maybe got hot. Good time to run the codes also

also chk ur altenator... have seen this b the problem also, good luck bro

brand new alternator and O2 sensor! also it got new plug, wires, cab and rotor last year and i might have put 1000 klms on it!

Will try looking at the o2 wires, was also thinking maby the coil or coil wires are packing it in?

Thanks
Kris

tach signal is a composite of the spout coming from the TFI/sensor module. check to see if you get advance, look for corroded wires on the computer, do a test to see if the TFI is still OK. You'd be surprised at what limp mode is.

also check on the instrument panel for bad grounds and gunk on the connectors. I think there are 2 multi pin connectors that get corroded on our vehicles.
