im new to this website, a buddy of mine told me to come here. i have a question on hooking up an aftermarket tach in a 2000 ranger 2.5l with out factory tach. i have already cut back the tan/yellow wire an connected my tach signal to that with my power an ground hooked up to a jumpbox. i have good power cause tach light comes on but the tach doesn't read anything. any help would be appreciated.

thanks
don

Go to the tech library.. scroll down to ignition and under that you will see Ranger tachometer install.

Hope that's what ya need!

yea i went there but i couldnt find for 2000, im assuming that the 94' model is the same. but i hooked up to the tan/yellow thats the correct wire right??:icon_confused:

Here is what I found...

Q - I have a 2000 3.0L V-6 Ranger without a factory tachometer. Which wire do I splice in to?

A - Look for the DIS box under the intake manifold on the drivers side. Just splice into the yellow/tan wire coming out of the connector

Multiple year models seem to use the same wire

I hope this answers your question

well i missed that part of the page, but there is a problem with that. i assume that is a yellow wire with tan stripe??? but if not dont take me the wrong im not trying to down anybody in any way, but i have access to alldata and there is no yellow wire tan stripe wire being used on the 2.5l computer, for the 2.5l its pin 48 tan with yellow stripe that hooks the tach to the instrument cluster. and i have a 2.5l where would the dis box be on that???:icon_confused: also saw that they said to find the yellow tan wire on a 1999 2.5l that worked fine. im just making sure im doind it right, hate to mess something up
