T5 swap, do I really need a tbird turbo?

I've been contemplating the t5 swap in my 92 2.3, and in searching on here I've read that you need to get one from an 87-8 Tbird Turbo coupe as it was the only one with a hydraulic clutch to match what is stock on the ranger. But do you really need to? I think I've read somewhere that you can mod the truck to make a non-hydraulic clutch tranny work? any thoughts or ideas?
