I just go done putting a 3 inch Body lift on today, since the Body mounts were sagging and causing rubbing issues....but anyway,

Now, my 4x4 shifter wont move. Do yall think itis just linkage? I dont remember the last time i had it in 4 wheel, but something tells me this is just linkage. I just wanted to run this by the oracles before I go breaking something

Okay, so i got time to look at things, and found out that it is not the linkage, but rather probably the case itself. I set both drivers side wheels off the ground with jackstands, locked the hubs, and eased off the clutch, resulting in both front and rear tires off the ground. this is with the selector as far forward as I can get it. I'm just dandy with this thing being stuck in 4, as I can unlock the hubs no big deal. However, will driving interstate speeds with the case in 4 and the hubs unlocked cause some sort of fatal damage? I'll replace the case when I get time and money, just dont have either now.

Thanks

before you replace the case, un hook the likage from the case itself and shift the case at the lever by hand. if it goes into all positions properly, then you need to work on your linkage. The body lift raised the hole where the shifter comes through the floor. Now the shifter can not attain its full range of motion because of the shortened lever effect....

for example. Say the shifter hole allows for 5 inches at the floor, all of that movement is used, and the shifter is 6 inches long. Halfway up the shifter (3 inches) it may need to move 7 inches. When you raised the body up 3 inches (halfway up the shifter) you have now restricted it down to 5 inches of movement. When you lost that 2 inches of movement, you then lost the ability to shift the case fully.

That makes lots of sense. I'll do that.

Spot on, spot on.
