I just finished my t-case swap (1354 manual) in my 1994 ranger. I am about to install the t-case shifter and I noticed there is an awful lot of tension between the shifter and the shifter lever on the case. So much that it seems unsafe. I was going to space the shifter out from where it attaches to the tunnel between the tranny and t-case using washers so the fit is not so extreme. Will this work, or is that tight fit required for it to function properly.

or

Is putting a lot of lateral stress on the shifter lever of the t-case going to hurt it? I just had it rebuilt and I dont want to hurt my investment

are you useing the correct shift linkage for that tranny and that model t-case arm?

so you are using the shifter assembly from a vehicle with a 1354, and which part is from a 1350? you will need everything to be from a 1354 as the manual 1350s have different parts for the shifter assembly.

yea, you need them to be matched, get the t-case part from a 1354 or the shifter assembly from a 1350, it will probably be easier to get the shifter assembly from a 1350 except those also have different lengths so you should try and find the little t-case stub from a 1354 for things to match up properly. Maybe someone will take a look at this and post a picture of what the 1354 one looks like, or do a search around because it is actually bent and shaped differently.

I got the 1350 to work, but I definitely need to find the 1354 arm. There is still a little stress I'd like to get rid of. Do you know where I can find one, I have the only 1354 within 50 miles of here? The junkyards are empty.

you can try posting in the wanted to buy forum... someone might have something laying around.
