I have a 92 ranger transfer case with the truck without this Dampener / weight. I bought a spare for cheap out of a 95 ranger and it had this on the back. What exactly is it and for what use? Do I really need to use it?
Both transfer cases are 1354 auto. Thanks.

Vibration dampener.

You can leave it off, it's just useless weight (and gets in the way when you need to change the t-case fluid).

That was what I was hoping to hear, great
