i plan on building a early 80s 2wd ranger one day when i get out of school. I am interested in putting a built 308 in it, hopefully running upwards of 400 hp/400 torque. Would a WC T-5 be able to handle that power? Im assuming so cause guys are running forced induction 5.0s in their mustangs without much tranny work, unless there is something I dont know about. Would you be able to build the T-5 to handle the power if it couldnt in stock form?

I've seen many stang guys grenade the t-5, all had WC trans. One guy had a blower, another had nitrous and another had a 351W. I'm putting a WC t-5 in my 351 stang and all I hear is I'll blow second gear from every guy who used one in a stang. I'll find out how it holds up, I'm building pretty much an identical engine to what's in my Ranger.

well let me know how it turns out

i blew out my t-5 in no time on my '85 mustang gt, had it replaced with a world class, blew up again! had my original beefed up, no problems, not yet anyway. the guy that built it said it could probably handle around 450 ponies.

you will usually bllow 3rd, not second. ive never seen a 2nd fail. BUT, what are you doing to get this 400 hp? what i mean is ,are you really going to have 400 hp or just speculating? a t5 will hold more than it should though. weve run 600 ft lbs through them and theyve lived. but theyve also died with 300 ft lbs as well. cant really make em hold much more unless you wanna get into a g force gearset. thatll cost at least 1100 if you build it yourself

my original, non wc, every gear was round! every gear!!! no teeth on any of them!!!!
