Its about two inches long plastic. Is it fine will it be okay can i just fill it up still or drain and remove cover this is my work truck and need it asap please help

I don't think I would sweat it too much. Sounds like it is big enough to not be a problem, the worst case scenario is that it could possibly get lodged someway that interferes with your sender unit, but for actual running of the truck, I think you are ok.

Next time you need to pull the bed would be the best time to retrieve it. unless you are bored and just want to take things apart :p

Someone can correct me if I am wrong on this...

Fuel safe and too big to pass the strainer sock filter? You are fine unless some freak jamming of the sending unit...even then nbd.

Thanks for the responces. It fell in the gear box fliud pan fill plug.

Run it like a stolen pony.

Waitaminute... "Gear box fluid pan fill plug"?

Where exactly did this tube fall, again? Because it sounds like everyone's assuming you dropped it in the gas tank, but I'm getting a sneaking suspicion you actually dropped it in the transmission.

That's a horse of a different color indeed.

We're going to need more details.

Yes i was changing the gear lube under the tranny

I have it drained right now i tried flushing it out but failed. I want to try to free it without having to pull the cover off. And if thats my last resort can i use a solvent gasket as opposed to the cork gasket. Because theres a two day delay for shipping and i am wheeless until we figure this out

I think you really want to get that out of there so whatever it takes...gears will probably shred it into a million pieces if left inside...

Removing the pan on the transmission might be the best way to get it out...I would try fishing it out first from the drain hole...

Use a bent coat hangar and keep it in line with where the filler tube is...all you can do is try before spending more time and money on removing the pan.

Okay thanks mark. And if i do end up taking tge pan apart can i just make my own gasket

If you have made gaskets before with material or even gasket goop it might work...might...

If you have to take the pan off I would pay the extra money to buy a proper gasket...problem is if they don't seal and you loose all your fluid it could cost you way more than the gasket is worth...

And...if you ever need to top up or fill your manual transmission...buy a small pump with a hose attachment...it will add years to your life...lol

Wait! Hold that thought years ha thats what i had and chopped it up to magivour my own those pumps kiss

I am at this point confused. Is this an automatic trans? And you were using a syphon tube to remove fluid from an over-full transmission? And you somehow got all but two inches of the tube out of the fill tube? Or you were using the two inch tube for a funnel and it fell down the tube?

Or is it a manual trans and you dropped the two inch long tube into it when filling the transmission?

If it is an auto, I'd pull the pan, fish it out and change the filter while I was in there. It probably needs it anyway (get a filter and gasket kit). If it is a manual, I wouldn't worry about it.

Pulling the pan isn't so bad, I rebuilt my FM146 a few years ago.

I couldn't find a gasket nearby so I made one from rubberised gasket paper. I put it on with a little black silicone gasket sealer (specifically recommended by the biggest tranny supplier in the state).
