one of the bigger problems in the M%OD-R1 with actual "Gear oil"
is that the extreme pressure additives "eat" the plastic shifter bushings
and when chips and chunks of the disintegrating thermoplastic rubber bushings
start plugging up the small oil ports that feed lube to the most critical
areas inside the trans all hell breaks loose.
I run THIN synthetic gear lube in my transmission, but I also run a Hurst shifter, thus no plastic bushings to worry about.
