anybody ever messed around with the idea of converting to a hand parking brake? i plan on taking out the bench seat i have in my 97 ranger and putting in two bucket seats. i feel like moving the parking brake to the center would gibe the inside of a truck a really good/unique look. so anybody every try this? what would i have to do to make this work and look as clean as possible? thanks for the help

I thought on it a little for my race truck but rules wouldn't allow. What I had for an idea was to use two passenger side e-brake cables to run up the middle to an escort or similar hand brake mechanism. Adapt as needed. Or get fancy and install two hand-brakes, one for each side.
Good luck

Richard

so your plan was to re route the passenger and driver side cables to enter the cab in between the two seats?

I didn't really have a plan as I stopped once I found it wasn't allowed. The vague idea I had in my head was to run the two lines up the center and then it depends on the handle part. The hand brake I looked at from a small '90's chevy would have had the lines connect under the cab. I'd build a bracket to hold the lines. The handle would have straddled a cut out in the floor between the seats. I think you will have to go to the wreckers with a camera and take pics for you to study once you get back to your truck.

I thought about this also...was going to us the hand brake fom my Tempo...didn't actually get anywhere with it, but it would be nice...I keep snagging my pant leg on the foot pedal..,but only during wild sex while driving...

You got to hand it to the Canadians, eh. They're always crazy wild with their sex.

Hahaha!

You could always use a hydraulic hand brake (there are various kits on the market) they're easily installed and you could even leave your cable operated one on there. To prevent getting your pant leg caught on the pedal during extra caricula manouvers, tuck you pant legs into your socks.
